What kind of files do they stream down?
How much CPU / Video card do you need?

My media PC can just barely handle hulu.com.
Barely.

I had it running fine w/ a Nvidia Geforce 6600 if that helps.

dhgb256 Wrote:Also, I have a new verison coming out tonight. I was waiting for netflix approval before posting it. I sped up all of the download operations, by about 10 times, added a status bar for trailer downloads; and added a screen to allow you to select ANY genre (including sub genres) on the site and add it to the search/startup list. You can add/subtract as many as you like. I also allow you to change the screen resolution to fit 4x3 movies, 16x10, or 16x9 movies to your screen (removes black bars by stretching the movie).

I'll post it tonight!

Wow is it fast now! 2 problems I am having... Ctrl B is crashing and the ability to rate isnt available anymore. Nice work on the rest that I have tried!

Hey Snooze.

Apparently I have a tab stop problem, if you use shift-tab you can tab over to the rating field, but using tab won't work. I'll fix it in the 2.0 release (working on it now).

With the ctrl-B wait until the movie has loaded (after red screen) before hitting it. The netflix website can lock up the app, if it is trying to load a movie and you change the screen size. If that doesn't work let me know what the exact error is.

Whoops!

I just found an error in the Netflix TX Database Build.exe file. Apparently if it doesn't find the thumbnil for a movie it is downloading it and then closing itself, so it isn't completing the database update. I found the error and fixed it. i have attached the updated Netflix TX Database Build.exe file, until I can release the next full version.

If you are using queue only, a similar error is present in the main program as well, it will just take longer to download your queue, but it should still work. I will have it buttoned up in the next version (release in about a week).

Latest and greatest has been posted. I no longer have a to do list, so if you think of anything handy to add to the program, or something to make functionality easier, let me know.

Thanks!

Hi DH,

What files does this affect? Does it require a complete DB rebuild?

I was thinking it would be nice to be able to disable the built in updater and use windows scheduler to rebuild the database instead. I am still having the issue of it rebuilding at the worst times. I triple checked myself on the path in the UpdateEPG.bat but I must be catching it hours before the set days it is suppose to do it on. Even though it is much faster now to build, I would rather do it in early in the morning and windows scheduler can do this efficiently IMO.

A "recently viewed", "We think you would enjoy" (based on past viewing preferences), and "New Arrivals" scrape would be a nice addition to the current list views.

That should keep you busy if you consider any/all of these Wink

Hey snooze,

Oops! I have now updated the first post with the version info. You do not need to do a full database build for version 2.0.0.0. Hopefully I'm done tinkering with the database for a while.

The database updater will update 2 days sooner than you select in the options menu. This allows the builder 2 days to do a proper update before you get the update screen on the main program. To test it is working I would...

Change the udpate days to zero and then click on the update epg.bat file and make sure it opens the database builder file. I am guessing it isn't, either that or GBPVR isn't calling the file properly. If it is opening, then you should just use windows scheduler to call the update epg file and turned off the update in GBPVR (that is how mine was setup).

I could add an option to turn off the update in the main program, but then you'd never know if the database file isn't updating properly. What do you think pros/cons?

I think you can get the "We think you'll enjoy" by sorting the list by star rating. It should essentially be the same thing. I'll look into adding the New Arrivals scrape. I would definitely find that useful.

I got it sorted by doing this in UpdateEPG.bat...

cd\
cd "c:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\Plugins\Netflix Queue"
"Netflix TX Database Build.exe"

I didn't have the " " around the long file name of Netflix TX Database Build.exe ... Damn DOS!

What it reminds me of is

Run
Syntax error
Abort

If you remember those days!

dhgb256 Wrote:The program occasionally runs slow when updating the queue, I think I tied it to internet explorer. Try closing all of your internet browsers and rerun the program. It should speed up significantly. I also recommend making the database builder program the only thing running during the update.

To fix this, you'll need to click cancel on the database builder program and wait about 30 seconds for the program to completely close. Then open the main program and set the time to update to 1 days. Then reopen the database builder program and let it run. Once it completes, then open the main program and set the update days to 2 or more.-DH

Digging into this issue couldn't hurt. the same thing happened to me but I remember you addressed what was causing it (even though I don't use IE).

What I am worried about NOW THAT I FIGURED OUT WHY MY DUMB A$$ COULDN'T GET IT TO UPDATE WITH THE EPG Big Grin is I let GBPVR go into standby in its main menu. Will this keep my machine awake for 20+ hours on the next database update?
