I like to record directly to my NAS which usually works pretty good. However when the computer wakes up from sleep mode it does not have enough time to reconnect the network drives before the recording begins. So the question is: Can i make GB-PVR wake up a minute or two before it actually starts recording anything ?

You can change both the pre and post padding.

I thought pre and post padding meant "record additional minutes" before and after. What im looking for is a way to make it wake up the machine a minute before its starts recording. You could say before pre padding

That is correct. I'm not familiar with any wake option in GBPVR except in config to start conversions. Maybe there is a setting in config.xml that will allow it. I would think that setting the program to record earlier would allow more time for your NAS to wake up. It's worth a try.

Not sure if this will work but ......search forum for gbpvrwake.exe and wake.cmd
(gbpvrwake.exe runs from your startup folder. It detects wake from standby and them runs wake.cmd in gbpvr folder)

set pre-padding to 2mins
in wake.cmd put

net stop "GB-PVR Recording Service"
rem do a dir of NAS drive X: to force reconnection.
rem else add a loop to keep looking for file on NAS device

dir x:
net start "GB-PVR Recording Service"

or you could use WOSB to repair network upon resume...also has some other usefull options..like make display active...
http://www.dennisbabkin.com/php/docs.php?what=WOSB

or my suspdeny.exe that lets you run stuff on susppend, and resume...and waits till it's done before windows does anything..
