I have a bunch of recording sessions setup for atsc and usually watch analog cable when not watching recorded stuff. When a recording finishes the video stream for analog stops. Sometimes I can switch channels back and forth and that fixes it or I can restart the recorder.

Is there a way to restart the recorder after it is done recording? This would probably fix my problem.

If someone else has has this problem and fixed it I'm open ears...:-)

I'm attaching recording service log. But it look like it shuts down both tuners when it finishes.

I had analog cable set to channel 3 (manual entry epg) but wanted a tv guide for a couple of my favorite channels like fx, usa, scifi and a couple of others. When I select fx (still on analog channel 3) recording goes fine for atsc. and analog video keeps playing. Some kind of conflict for channel 3 was/is going on. Just glad I got a clue now and video keeps playing without restarting services. It's getting more stable, wait until I add a second card LOL

I thought it was a driver problem in ati hd 650

Next to try recording analog and atsc at the same time.

Does this device have two tuners? ie can it do analog and digital at the same time? I assumed it only do one of the other at one time.

hmm,yes it seems to be a 'combo' tuner tpe...like half of a 2250..
can only record one at a time, either digital or analog, but not both..

isn't it supposed to know this and say tuner is busy? it doesn't...
i foresee future failed recordings because of this..
is there something we can do with the shared name= in .ini to make it know they are same tuner?

Notice they say you can 'record and play at same time' NOT 'record and watch livetv at same time'.. to confusingly fool people into thinking it's a real dual tuner....well, that and all the "DUAL Tuner" all over the box...grrrr....

I have a diamond card two tuners digital and analog, I've successfully recorded off both simultaneously. Some older cards only have a hybrid tuner so they can only use one at a time.

I have another card I got off ebay coming, I hope it also supports two separate tuners. Card looks identical, but it is a visiontek and does not say dual tuner. I think they are all made by the same people at least the pcie cards. But the cards picture shows 2 boxes on it. There are two part numbers floating around TVW650PCIEV (Current card) and TVW650PCIEX card that is coming. I looked at the back of my card and it says combo tuner ATI and the newcard says in documentation combotuner so I hope the X version just comes with different accessories. The black remotes with gray buttons are ms blaster compatible.

The comb filter on the analog on these cards really enhances standard ntsc. My friend has a hauppage 1600 and it has a much grainier picture. I haven't analyzed the ts file for analog resolution recorded. But will do so to see if it is being increased.

analog resolution won't be any different...quality may be tho...Smile

well i solved how to get it to know it's part of the other tuner...
have to rename the entry in direct.ini to same as the one you're using in bda.ini for it..
in my case i was using the "ATI 650 Pro (ATSC)" version so when i named the direct.ini entry same, it popped up the dialog saying tuner was busy...Big Grin

i tried using the SHARED_NAME= and making it same for both, to no effect...

so now i can use it as a dual mode spillover without fear of losses...Smile

There are 2 versions of the 650. The ones that say "Combo" are true dual tuners (one analog/one digital). The ones that don't have Combo in the name are hybrid tunes.

hmmm, mine says clearly it's a combo on the back of it...but it won't do 2 at once...at least not with the win7 drivers...
maybe i'll try the xp ones to see if any different...
the hardware is there, so i assumed it would...

mine has sticker on back that says "tv wonder 650 combo pcie"
2 identical tuners on it, and one theater 650 pro chip on it..and a theater 312 chip on backside..

i notice there is no pcie 650 in the single tuner list...only 600's that are software encoding..

hmmm, maybe something to do with the output filter names..

front of box it does say "watch one channel & record another simultaneously"

Diamond mm mentions nothing of a pcie 650 that's not a combo..
also ati site as well...only PCI version 650 is a single tuner..

either this is a new model or something's amiss here..

it's using "TV Wonder 650 Combo PCIe NA - Porcupine D" from hardware id for driver...
off to test XP..
it's probably why they haven't whql'd the win7 drivers yet..
