'Videos' Plugin for GB-PVR (Preview 1) - amazing youtube video must see!

and is there enough info to get it manually installed? installer is easy later..
we'd like to crank it up and kick the tires to see what it's current working state is..and get to translating those db connects..

nope, never got around to adding it.

i think the installer will do most of it for you, you will just need cs3 installed. ill try and have a play around with it over the weekend and see if i can get the basic installer working and commit the code, i will have to remove a few things though.

the db stuff is all good, just connect string is hardcoded i think atm, i was using sql server 2005 express at first, but then switched to a mysql db on unraid/linux. that was beginning of my linux migration

i did this cool thing for movie series, where it would work out the series based on the name (worked most of the time, couldnt work for things like "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" (would work with "Batman", "Batman Returns", "Batman Forever", "Batman Begins" etc) and would put them in their own sub folder/category.

if 2 or more movies of a series were listed in the genre, all the movies in that series would then be available as a sub folder off that genre. sometimes things aren't genred (yeah i made up that word) well, and you'd get a movie from a series not being in the same genre and have to go hunt for it. that was annoying.

oh yeah i will have to remove those background overlay images (dark gray rounded rectangle images) and make my own, since they're from boxee.

Having seen reven's re-attached images this really looks so good. No better, brilliantly good. I hope the mantle is taken up. And great to see a screenshot of Dark Knight in that, I worked on that film (though in a small capacity role).

was hoping to upload a version tonight, but ive run out of time and have to go out. just need to fix the sql server script (changed a few things when i add mysql support, removed guids for ints etc, and havent updated the sql server script yet).

i should have a version online by the end of the weekend though.

ok done some work on it, heres the current status
1. installer works fine, as long as you configure a sql server full/express db (havent tested compact edition, or mysql)
2. you can run the plugin and add directories to watch within the plugin (readded this - ugly though, needs a skinning facelift)
3. file mode seems to work fine, once you add some locations you can browse around without problems.
4. the file scanning metadata lookup (tv series/movies) works fine, but the code to save this info into the db needs work. in places its still using the linq code which only worked on a sql server db, which i removed to work on any odbc db. so all your movies/tv shows wont be saved to the database.

ill do some work on it tomorrow and hopefully get the db code sorted. this problem was a surprise to me as i had this all up and running when i was using gbpvr about a year ago. so hmm strange. maybe ive lost some code since then.

so with the first release you should be able to
1. download
2. run installer
2.1 select a sql server db
3. go directly to pvrx2 (theres no configuration in the config app, its all designed to be done in the plugin in pvrx2)
4. select "Files" and add locations from the popup menu
5. wait for the service to scan your locations for movies/tv shows.

i'll only probably be able to help work on this plugin until a "blue" skin is done for it, i dont have much spare time to work on something i wont actually be using my self. and besides a developer for something like this really should be using it themselves to know what works and what doesnt.

and ill probably leave it up to another developer to remove all the "Reven" namespaces and stuff from the config file.

so there you have it, nearly done, but the db stuff is going to slow me down.
