ok, it looks like the new problem is actually some sort of permissions related issue, but I'm not sure what to make of it.
I tried changing the recording service logon account to the same user that runs PVRX2. Now I CAN watch a recording in progress.
BUT, now the web server won't load which breaks the nice Vista/Win7 GB-PVR Desktop Gadget. I guess I'd rather give up the Gadget for now than not be able to watch an in-progress recording.
I have UAC set to the minimum "Never Notify" setting, but I've read that on Win7 UAC is never truly off... maybe this has something to do with it.
