Marc,

I see the error again it doesn't seem to be related to the OSD. Unfortunately I don't have too much more you did everything correctly but GBPVR logging isn't good at going back hours (your 40 minutes paused filled one log too). Is there any chance you NMT is overheating maybe you have a hard disk in with it you could remove it?

Sub if you are following this does GBPVR exit if mvpmc2 doesn't request data (9) within one second?

Yeah, sorry about the pause. Had to put the kids to bed. I don't think it's a heat issue. There is no HD in the PCH, and it's in an open TV stand with plenty of ventilation.

I guess I could pull the top off and see if I still have the same problem. Thanks for taking a look. If you think of anything else to try, let me know.

I don't think it is heat but I am struggling a bit to find a cause.

1. Does the file resume properly after the crash?
2. Do you have to power off the PCH to get it to work?
3. Would you be able to start mvpmcx2 by telnet using putty and capture the outptut to a file?
4. Did you try a static IP on PCH?

Martin,

1. What do you mean by "resume properly"?
2. I DO need to power cycle the PCH to get it to work again. It's unresponsive otherwise.
3. I'll look into this. Haven't done it before, but I remember seeing how to on the forums, so I'll look it up and get back to you.
4. I thought of this as well. I changed my router to assign a static IP to the PCH, but I'll change it to have the PCH keep its own static IP instead.

When you go back to the file that stopped (not in livetv) can you seek to the spot it crashed and will playback continue? I want to ensure the file is ok.

Getting putty going will go a long way.

Quick update. Things are working marvelously. No crashes for 3 days. I set up the PCH with a fixed IP, and I started mvpmcx2 through telnet for logging purposes. Can't tell why things are working so well (so much for a controlled experiment), but knocking on wood.

I'll update if things change. I'm wondering if my router was being "funny" with the NMT (short DHCP lease, breaking connection every x hours?).

Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll update if things change.

Thanks for the update. I don't expect to get 100% availability in fact I have to reset my cableco's STB regularly but hopefully you can make it though more than a couple of hours. I don't use a static IP myself and haven't experienced this problem but as you wrote their might be something specific to your router. I rarely record long shows but try to play livetv all night (the 1.4.7 bug came into the final beta and unfortunately I didn't do may normal test).

How do you set your PCH for static? I've been following this thread since my PCH started having the same issue a few months ago & seems to be getting more frequent.

I'm hoping my PCH isn't failing. There's no hard drive in it & it's on a shelf with space around it...

UPDATE: Never mind - I found it.

I'd have to check your logs, I don't suspect the static IP issue to be a general solution.
