Also, I have .Net 3.5.30729.

The previous version of Netflix viewer that I'm running is 1.5.0.39063.

OK, I know what the problem is, but I'm not sure what to do about it. The program stores your current video card information when you open the program, because there is an option to resize the movies to fit a 4x3 or 16x9 screen while watching a movie. Then when you exit the movie viewer it puts everything back to your initial conditions.

What is happening is that the program isn't finding a default device on your computer. Is there something special/odd about your display that would help me figure this out?

It doesn't seem odd to me, I guess. Nvidia 9500GT feeding a Sony TV through DVI to HDMI at 1368X766 (or whatever), i.e., 16X9. I do have the EDID for the TV overridden to get sound from the separate audio in instead of via HDMI. This seems to be common with various displays and Nvidia cards. If this might make a difference you can Google on override edid nvidia and get lots of info.

In your netflix tx viewer.ini file, make sure Use Secondary Screen=False is in there. I am thinking that it might be listed as true and is messing you up. Let me know.

If that doesn't work, then please copy this test version over the 2.1.1.0 file and open the file and send me the [netflix app directory]\movieinfo\logs\screeninfo.log file.

Here are the results:

Secondary Screen is false in the ini.

When running the new version, the exception does not come up when the movie starts, nor does it come up on the alt key. But it does come up on the F4 key when trying to use alt-F4 to stop the movie. If I choose CONTINUE, it goes back to the movie. I can't stop it unless I choose QUIT from the exception screen. Also, when the movie starts, there is a quick flash of the menu screen. Related to primary/secondary switching?

Exception and log file attached.

Thanks for the quick response! I have it figured out! Big Grin

I will have a new version out tonight that will fix the problem.

If you care as to what was happening keep reading:
The display device name usually is followed by a bunch of random ascii characters(e.g. \\.\DISPLAY1 &@#**][*) , so I find the first random character and keep all of the text to the left of that as the device name. But your device name is returning without all of the random characters (e.g \\.\DISPLAY1), so when I search for the text to the left of the first random character it is returning a text length of -1 and is causing the error. This will be a VERY quick fix and I can have it to you tonight.

There you go Mike. New version is posted, you should be notified when you open up the program.

Haven't tried it yet, but you tell a very convincing explanation. So convincing, that I'm positive it will work.

Thanks.

Now for a request - could the new version notification be enabled/disabled in the configuration file? It's a nice feature, but I normally run without a mouse or keyboard, so a new version pop-up might not be easily handled by a remote. Will it come up every time the program is started? I don't recall if there was a IGNORE button.

It will come up every time you open the program, but you can select "No" to not download the program. Just use the right arrow button on your remote and press enter. I could add an option, so you are only reminded once a week, would that work?

Good news, the latest version fixes the exception problem. Good work, and thanks.

The new version pop-up does not respond to the remote, at least the way I have it setup, which is basically as Snooze describes. I'd still like to turn the notification off completely and just monitor this forum for news of updates. As long as this version keeps working, (Netflix doesn't change anything) I'm in no hurry to upgrade. It does everything I need.

I'll add it to my to do list for the next release. You won't get any pop ups before a new version comes out anyway.
