My GPVR computer used to always enter standby after 1 hr of inactivity, and then turn back on when required to make recordings. Lately though, for roughly the past 3 weeks, it's just staying on all the time. At first I thought it was because I was recording the Olympics, but with that event over I now know that's not what's causing it.

The only thing I think I might have done to cause this problem is to start using a concurrent user hack to allow a laptop to remote into the computer w/o logging off the current user. The weird thing is that this hack was performed over a year ago; I used it a bunch at first and then left it alone for a good 11 months before using it again.

I've checked task manager for rogue processes, but don't see anything unusual (doesn't mean I know what half the stuff in there is). I just noticed that the computer isn't going into screen saver either, and I currently don't have PVRX2 running - so I don't think it is a GBPVR problem.

If anyone has some tips of things to check, I'm all ears!

Thanks in advance!

Wo. Just noticed it says "senior member" under my user name. Weird.

This occasionally happens to my system and I have never managed to find out what does it.
I gave up spending hours and days trying to find out and just restore an Acronis image of the windows drive and it is all OK for another 6 months or so.

(My Windows drive does not have applications or data on it, so a Windows restore is only a 5 minute job).

Sorry, that is no help, but I'll keep watching in the hope of an answer that sorts mine out as well Smile

That may be it. I tend to ignore those.

Will check and post back if I learn anything.

screensaver is enabled but it never kicks in:-

does screensaver preview work?
maybe power settings are disabled in control panel or bios - try disabling and reenabling
mouse keeps moving slightly (try unplugging it)
check windows event viewer.

Mine does this sometimes. A reboot always fixes it. Dunno what causes it. Maybe a java thing like mentioned.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

you ca try to check with the MCE Standby Tool, that shows if system/display are required by any program, idle timer values etc.

For anyone following this thread, I think I've decided on a OS reload to solve this problem. I just can't seem to find the source of the problem in the limited time I have available to look for it...
