Does GBPVR have a record indicator (red dot in top corner) which can be seen on each screen? Would be nice to know that its recording without having to go to the recordings menu.
Yeah, but how many times do yopu need to see that it's recording?
Maybe just the recording now panel on the main menu.
Or you can use a case mounted LED, using either paraled (on GB wiki)
or LEDSdriver (slck solutions - same people who make MST tool) - This one is configurable so you use a multi colour led and different action cause diff colours (so tuner1, tuner 2, woke from standby for recording, woke for user interaction all diff colours)

Check out SlimmGBPVR in the wiki. It can help keep track of whats going on with GBPVR, at least from the server screen. It doesn't add anything to the screen if you're watching TV remotely though. (Like via an MVP, Popcorn Hour, etc.)

I'm already using SlimmGBPVR, and it does a great job, however, the icon is on a small primary screen and really not visible from viewing place where a big secondary screen is showing GBPVR. Now how often do you need it? Not very often I agree. This is no big deal, just one of those nice-to-have things that from time to time pops up, so let's not critizise the proposer to death

I've been trying (and failing) to try to use a slimmgbpvr generated image as a background on a PCH.
I've also failed in trying to wink the power LED when recording.
I've admitted my shortcomings and given up for now
