Two of my ClearQAM channels are not appearing in the XMLTV file.

I tried adding the channels and then mapping them, but I'm not fully aware how to do it. I click on Manual Scan and try to scan for the channel (it's 15-7 and 27-1), but they are not found. Windows Media Center detects these channels just fine.

Maybe you should switch to Windows Media Center...

You know, I don't appreciate asshole responses like this.

If you don't want to help someone, don't.

Obviously I don't want to use Windows Media Center. Some of the channels are not detected by GBPVR and the documentation does not help at all.

This is supposed to be a help forum, not GTFO and don't ask questions.

Apologies for going back to basics ...

When you Map Digital Channels in the Capture Sources tab, the leftmost column is the list of channels found in the EPG import ... typically an XMLTV file or from Schedules Direct. The channels listed depends upon the source you used to obtain the XMLTV file and I am too many oceans away to be able to offer any suggestions about that.

The right most column is GBPVR's attempt to match channels found during the scan with channels found in the EPG source. Your logs show that GBPVR scans 139 frequencies looking for TV channels so it seems likely that if they are there to be found then the scan should have found them.

Where are the two missing channels missing from? The left side (i.e. the EPG source) or the right side (i.e the scan)?

It is missing from the scan.

I think I fixed the problem though. For some reason, the zip code I was using was not giving the results I wanted. I changed zip codes to the same cable provider, but a bit farther away and it picked up the two channels. Very odd.

To make things worse, I used the same zip code when I set up Windows Media Center to test it.

Hey be nice. Eventually you'll need a cablecard.

When you scan with GBPVR, the found channels will only have names if your cable company supplies them in the PSIP data in the stream (and it's rare if they supply the names), otherwise they show up as "Unknown" since there is no way for GBPVR to know which channel it is. Once the scan is finished, GBPVR will connect to the Silicondust lineup server and compare the found unknown channels to those reported by the lineup server to name the Unknown channels. The Silicondust lineup server depends on HDHomerun users to report the channel names for "Unknown" channels.

If names were missing, it's because no one in your zip code reported the names. Someone in the other zip you tried did. Unnamed channels will still appear in the scan as "Unknown" and an asterix (*) will indicate unencrypted channels.

You can view the same data on the Silicondust lineup server that is reported to GBPVR by going to http://www.silicondust.com/hdhomerun/channels_us and entering your zip code.

OK, here's the dealio, and I'm not trying to be a jerk.... In my instance, zip 95126, silicondust lists 3 different Comcast cable lineups (down from 5; that's a good thing). After finding the appropriate one for my locale, maybe 50% of the channels mapped correctly. Many were encrypted. And those viewable would change every 1-2 weeks... YMMV. Just giving a realistic flavor to this thread.
