Hey Sub, I have just gone from nervous anticipation to outright terror!

Any thoughts on minimum specs?

I'd say about the same as GBPVR.

You say that a machine can have both N-PVR and GBPVR together but I assume you have to disable the recording service on one or the other. I assume the N-PVR recording still service based?

Yes, NPVR also uses a service (though you can run without it, and it'll use an in-process version of the server). Generally both services can be running at the same time, but you'll need to be careful not to schedule recordings on both at the same time while you're testing with both.

I see also the download had got a lot smaller I guess that is what you can do with a clean sheet.

There was a lot of extra cruft in GB-PVR. I'm sure some people will be disappointed that specifically requested bit of cruft was removed though

Thanks for the hard work. I still remember the day i trashed my All-in-wonder software based encoder for a Hap 150, and started building a real tivo alternative. It is wasy to see for miles when standing on the shoulders of giants.
I just finished a build of my new PC (not worth posting specs - it is nothing special). I will keep the WAF high by leaving 1.4.7 on old box, and tune the new OS plus NPVR on the new box. For me, this is a Fri, Sat Sun thing...
I am running an old XP license on the new box. Here is my $100 question... do you recommend a Win7 upgrade or do you have any plans to support N-PVR run on linux or Mac? Thanks again

Personally I prefer Win7 over XP. They improved a lot of things relating to video playback.

Next to no chance of ever seeing N-PVR on Linux or Mac. Sorry.

Amen to that, Sub. For me, getting away from needing FSE mode for decent video is the biggest advantage of moving from XP to Win7. The slightest issue could upset FSE mode and then I'd have a blank screen until I could Ctrl-Alt-Del.

This never happens with EVR mode. I can even hit the windows key, launch and app, close it and still be watching TV in full screen. Couldn't do that with FSE. After some initial head aches getting my head around getting the best video experience out of Win7 & EVR, I'd never go back now.

Hearing that FSE is not supported in NPVR says to me that the XP hangers on should definitely think about an upgrade to Win7 before switching to NPVR. I say that because in my experience, the only decent video performance I ever got out of XP was with FSE - nothing else cut it.

I hear you siliconaudio (bill) but I have to say that a combination of a reasonably powered GPU and CPU meant that all my X-related problems went away, and the config I've been running for the last six months has been fault-free -- I've not had to touch the config -- and has resulted in major WAF and record brownie points. I fear this may be about to change. This is my opportunity to move to Win7, and upgrade the OS disk to SSD: silent, and a much lower power draw - and upgrade to NPVR.
