when I click update EPG just says "saving new listings and channel information"........

Unfortunately there is no sign of any errors there.

Does the same thing happen if you use the 'Update EPG' option in the System screen?

and not valid win32 app. Although when i got this I refreshed the mc2xml.exe from their website (made no difference)
Is this a vista64 issue then?

Sounds like you've got a corrupt version of mc2xml.exe on your machine, or something similar. This will most likely be what was stopping the config app from working too.
