ok, sub, on the off chance you read past the first sentence of my home-made vodka fueled rant, this seems to be the short version of what I'd like to see, based also on the views of others expressed here:
1. Very few like my desire to have some sort of integration between Recordings and Video Library. I think it wouldn't be so bad to simply have Video Library be a sub menu of Recordings rather than a separate top-level menu, but it's a minor point. More integration than that is generally opposed.
2. Most seem to agree that it would be nice to have sort options for the full Ready list. In particular I would like it to sort by date, but retain the groups as well.
3. We need a return of the option to specify the default view in Recordings, and along with it a default sort option for the Ready list. If I had a ready list sorted by date, and ready was the default view, then I'd never use What's New again.
4. In Progress recordings should be displayed in the Ready and What's New lists; I don't know whether it's that way already, I haven't recorded anything yet with NPVR.
Thanks for your consideration, if any...:o

I took me quite a while to figure out what you were talking about but finally I think the penny dropped you are using the "old style Recordings" view, it displays quite differently to the (in my opinion VERY MUCH improved) new style Recording view.

Ah, ok, I'll need to look into that next time I can wrestle the TV away from the family. I did see something in config.xml about that, but don't recall how it was set.

Doesn't the TV Listings plug-in give you what you are asking for? I know it's not in the "standard" TV Guide but that's what plug-ins are for... to provide additional features not in the basic program.
If I'm off base, forgive me. I'm just the kid here. :p I notice that everyone else posting in this thread has thousands of posts to their name.
Could be, but there are no plug-ins for NPVR yet. It seems I did try TV Listings at one point in the past, and while I liked it in some ways it had some deal-killers so I didn't use it. Either way, I'm here to advocate for better core functionality.

Jaggy Wrote:I wouldn't say I was a fan of the idea of having my Recordings & Video items combined, mainly because I have my USB archive/keep drive configured in Videos & not for any recordings as it takes quite a while to wake up, this means when I enter the Videos menu there is quite a big delay waiting for it to wake up before I can do anything, I certainly don't want that delay when entering the Recordings screen.
I agree with Jaggy on this. I also have my movies on a USB drive, but TV recordings on the local hard drive. I often have the USB drive unplugged from my GBPVR machine and plugged into the PCH in the bedroom. It would be a pain to have Next-PVR expecting to find a drive that's not plugged in. I actually do like it being separate just as it is now.

I was actually using the New recordings view in N-PVR, and I do like it much better than GB-PVR. However, it is true that when I wrote my 'usage example' I was thinking more about the old view. With the new view it is a little easier to switch among the lists, just a quick arrow rather than having to back out of one list and into another. But it doesn't really change anything fundamentally, the Ready list still needs sort options.
The other way to go that would be just as good to me is if the What's New list had grouping like the Ready list. Actually that might be even better, easier to implement, and more in keeping with the existing design. Also, is there any way the single recordings could be ungrouped? Like if I record a movie, it gives the title of the movie, and says 1 Recording, so then I have to go 'in' to that menu where it lists the movie again, and then I can actually play it. It would seem easier if single recordings just showed up at the top level.

There is a "Sort" in the hidden buttons so I suspect sub has something in mind but just hasn't implemented it yet.
