I have been editing & changing things around in mine so that is not really an issue to me (any more) & I will continue to do so until I get it the way I want it, but not all users will be confident enough to do this....some will & some will break it as well I would say.

But I am actually meaning the first impression is confusing for the enhanced view (the basic install view you have got really good & simple & nice to use) there are too many things in the list it is hard to get started.

Jaggy I seriously disagree, I have looked at this for a while now and I can't see anyway of changing this for the better at the moment.

Jaggy what if Web Radio was to send the Description from the xml as metadata? I could explain the options better, but it would take your help in moving the skin around to give me more space.

I had exactly the same thought as you while I was looking at the screenshot in your message above that one, yes I would say a description in the metadata area would do it & it would also look a lot more professional as well.

I am not sure what you are doing with your config/edit or whatever it is you are working on at the moment but the only other thing in this area I would think would make it better would be some way for the user to move items around from within the UI or a config program without having to edit .xml files manually, something like reordering the menu items in GB-PVR would be sufficient I think.

We can discuss the skinning offline, after I get some descriptions I agree it will look much more professional.

As for the config here is how it looks today. I am definitely not planning on manipulating the Radio station list, it's not worth the trouble, but the check boxes will be used to create a UserMenu.xml.

mvallevand Wrote:Jaggy perhaps you and ACTCMS are missing that the Web Radio menus were really designed to be customized (skinnable if you will). RadioStation.xml is just an example of how to load any of the main stations, and UserMenu shows some of the less common settings.

I found the number of xml/csv/etc files in the Plugins\WebRadio dir to be very confusing to start with, until I figured out that WebRadio.xml was the top level 'config' file where you specify:

where your menu structure is - RadioStations.xml or UserMenu.xml or MyOwnHandBuiltMenu.xml
where your favorites are stored - MyRadioStations.xml
your preferred player
your cache dir
your Live365 credentials

Once I got that clear, I can see how easily WR can be extensively customised - and it's a very powerful feature.

I think the point that Jaggy and I are both making, is that there is a lot of figuring out to be done before you get to be comfortable enough to start tailoring WR. I'm sure there are a lot of users who won't have the patience to do the figuring...

How you would write a config app to make it easier is another matter altogether...

I actually don't expect most users will bother tailoring it, but for those that do there is work to be done. MixMan started developer's wiki for the format (it wasn't my design) but I probably am the only one who used it.

I had a problem when I was testing the new 10 favorites feature - I had a MyRadioStations.xml in my cache dir (c:\temp) from using WR with pvrx2.

The Favorites button was updating the MyRadioStations.xml in Plugins\WebRadio, but the WR menu was reading from the cache file version - I renamed the cache file version and WR started using the Plugins\WebRadio version.

Now that the Favorites button is working well, it might be worth adding a <StationList> section for Favorites in your RadioStations.xml distribution...

Do you have any idea why I can still listen to Live365 stations even though I haven't put my credentials into the <Live365Session> node in WebRadio.xml ?

Did you modify the default MenuFile for the Favourites? By default it should be

<MenuFile>Favourites</MenuFile>

with this it points to configured value in WebRadio.xml The default should not conflict with PVRx2
Code:
<MyRadioStations>C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\WebRadio\MyRadioStations.xml</MyRadioStations>

Wasn't it working all along? Anyway That key is MyRadioStations as shown above.

No, but some live365 streams are open.

I was using the base install and so I added
Code:
<StationList>
<Type>RadioMenu</Type>
<Title>Favorites</Title>
<Description>Shoutcast</Description>
<Icon>last played.png</Icon>
<MenuFile>MyRadioStations.xml</MenuFile>
</StationList>
to RadioStations.xml, but I wasn't aware of the 'Favorites' keyword

Maybe I should have said, now that it is working well for me using the Base install, it might be worth moving the Favorites <StationList> node from the Addons to the Base install...Smile

That will be the non-VIP ones then...
