I run 3 Hauppauge MVP boxes off a Windows XP - 3 server. I use MVPMC as Hauppauge box OS, which is loaded from the server.

Inexplicably quite often play back just stops, and the Hauppauge box seems to do a software reset of some kind - ie it doesn't go through the cold boot routine, just starts running the emulation again. I get the GBPVR mainmenu very quickly - max 30 seconds

I cannot figure thopugh why it just stops. I am attaching a verbose log of last nights events, when it stopped twice. You can see that it starts for the final time at 20.08.02.987, starts the playback round 20.09.10.284,chunters on quite happily for 20 minutes or so then at 20.26.50 799 it suddenly stops - control thread lost etc. What i cannot see is whether this is being caused by the Hauppauge or by something in GB-PVR. Could be the haupaauge I suppose. i have had them a few years and one of them already had to be replaced - or is it GBPVR??
There are two logs in the zip the -2 one is the one to look at. the other one just shows the Hauppauge restarting after it crashed

Any help gratefully received. it is driving me & the wife mad

After you see it crash and before GBPVR restarts, do you see the mvpmc logo?

Martin,
Yes the MVPMC logo flashes on, then it runs through its start-up script (Pings the GBpPVR box etc etc).

Thanks StevHodge, you didn't post in the mvpmc forums so I missed your reply. I asked the question because sometimes the "new" models of the MVP don't download the dongle and use an internal dongle from firmware. I'd suggest turning of incremental updates in your config.xml. The networking on the MVP is lousy and this might reduce the risk of problems from time to time. Here's on old thread on this http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=35531
