No clear qam found

When I run the scan for channels in the setup for my capture device, the results claim that only encrypted channels are found. I know that there are clear qam channels there, because I can tune and watch them using Windows Media Center, although it was a complicated process to get it working in Media Center.

I am using a Pinnacle PCTV 80e USB stick connected to Verizon FIOS, on a pc running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I am using the latest beta version of NPVR. My NPVR.log is attached.

I can see why this is and have put a fix in for the next build. It thinks it's a DVB-C device.

I just installed NPVR v1.5.28, and when I try to scan for clear QAM channels on my Pinnacle PCTV 80e, no channels at all are found. I have tried scanning using all of the settings under Digital Recorder Settings > Type Specific Settings > Channels, to no avail.

Attached to this message are the logs from C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs, as well as a text file that lists the channels I can see when I attach a QAM TV directly to the cable, the frequencies as reported on a diagnostic screen on a set top box, with the channel names and numbers from the xmltv.xml file that I get from running mc2xml to download the epg from my schedules direct lineup. I am able to tune, view, and record all of these channels using Windows Media Center and the PCTV 80e.

Did this device used to give you QAM channels in GBPVR?

It's erroring when trying to set the channel. Try using frequencies in your tuning ini file.

And, what is the format for entering the frequencies? Those files all seem to be csv files.

After the previous version of NPVR didn't work for me, I installed the last version of GB-PVR, but it didn't work with it, either, so I uninstalled it. I don't remember what the problem was.

EDIT:

OK, I just re-installed GB-PVR v 1.4.7, and it failed to detect the device at all. Then, I added a section to bda.ini that whurlston posted in #4 of this thread: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...t=pctv+80e
but when I tried to map channels, it showed this error:

Can you run filtercheck.exe in the GBPVR program folder and post the resulting filtercheck.log? You may need to run it as Administrator.

My ini entry would not have worked for GBPVR because the filter names have changed but would not affect NPVR. I'm not quite sure what the issue is. I have a PCTV stick somewhere. I will try to find it.
