Great job Northpole! That was a great idea and it sounds like you are getting close...but you are also getting beyond what I can help with (doesn't take much huh Smile).

I'm starting to grasp at straws now, but I have a couple of long-shot ideas. Poke around in AC3 filter and see if there is an audio renderer setting there that you can use to set a the audio renderer from within the filter settings itself. It is my understanding that these clocks do not come from Graph Edit but rather from the filters you use within graph edit (but I will be the first to admit, I am not a Graph Edit guru...a lot of what it does is beyond me, so I could be wrong).

Second, you might go into nPVR and try .ts files after changing to each of the options available for the audio renderer (reload nPVR just to be sure the change has taken effect). Using "default renderer" is a dicey proposition as you do not know what it is choosing as the default, and whatever it is could some day change. There should be one specifiable renderer that works with 5.1 audio now that you have a way to get 5.1 with these .ts files (i.e., you are basically hunting to see what the default is...that one must be working). Once you figure out which it is, you may be able to force it by making it your audio renderer setting in nPVR. Hopefully Sub will see this thread...I bet he can shed some light on all of this.

I have found that which ever audio renderer is selected in settings or config.xml npvr always uses default directshow renderer. http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...-Selection
Sub says he has fixed this for the next build.
I have always needed one of the Realtek renderers to get stable playback.

There was this setting in the gbpvr config:

<ForceAudioReferenceClock>false</ForceAudioReferenceClock>

Wonder if this could be applied to solve the problem I'm having in n-pvr.

Edit: Is there any way to see the graph that npvr builds?

Try setting the audio renderer set to "Default DirectSound Device" to see if it helps.

Good New!

Fixed my problem. I checked out the log file and looks like npvr loads all the default decoders that you select in the menu option onto the graph it builds. I've had Arcsoft TMT installed because of my Hauppauge HDPVR. I had selected Arcsoft as my HE-AAC decoder. Somehow, even though I had ac3filter choosen as my preferred ac3 decoder, the Arcsoft decoder keeps taking over. If I disable Arcsoft as my HE-AAC decoder, everything plays fine.

Thanks to everyone for helping me sort this out.

Edit: Just wanted to mention that all these test files have only ac3 audio in them. I just tried setting the HE-AAC decoder to the MainConcepts AAC decoder and my problem re-occurred.

This set-up works very well for me now on WinXP/MCE
