This is something out of my control. You have two options, turn off live preview mode, or wait for ATI to release new drivers which generate video/audio in sync on the live preview pin.

BTW, did you try using the 'encoder pass through' deinterlacing option? This is more likely to be in sync.

Thanks sub, it works by using the "encoder pass through" or disable the live preview mode which I prefer to turn on becuase it makes the channel switching much faster Smile

Hey Sub, i have a question for you. I want to use the ATI 550 pro because it has very good noise reduction. I have a bunch of VHS tapes i want to transfer to DVD. Anyways, i want to have the option of capturing both MPEG-2 files for making DVDs, and .avi( using huffYUV or MJPEG codecs ), incase i want to clean up really messy video using virtualdub before i turn it into MPEG-2. Does GBPVR software give me those capabilities with the ATI 550 pro?

No, the ATI550 will only produce MPEG-2 files with GB-PVR.

GB-PVR only supports .avi files on hardware DivX encoder devices like the Plextor PX-TV402U etc.

will there be any possibility of supporting .avi capture in the future? even if you have to bypass the filters on the 550 chip, etc?

ohh also, what is the maximum VBR bitrate supported by the GBPVR for the 550 pro ?

No, this feature will not be added to GB-PVR in the future.

does anyone else have this info? i am trying to make a decision before buying, and the 550 pro seems liek such a great chip, but the bloody thing has such terrible software.. GBPVR is my only hope if i plan on using the 550 pro.. if anyone can confirm what the maximum bitrate it suports for the 550 pro, that would be very helpful.

I remember reading in one review that the onboard 16 MB of RAM gives the 550 enough oomph to capture up to ~15 Mbps, which is almost double the bitrate of DVD, so should be more than enough for anyone.
