OK, here are the logs. First tried playback of pending recording (same for live tv) too much stutter (unwatchable). Then went through the Videos option and browsed to the pending recording file directly, and plays back smoothly. Easy to recreate.

I believe this issue existed in GBPVR too. There is something different about play back through Recordings/LiveTV

Create a c:\temp directory, set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NPVR\LogSlipFile=1, then start the app, start live tv, wait until it locks up, then post the c:\temp\reader.log file.

Thats on the client I presume. I tried it on the server and it failed to find any tuners!

The reader file is attached, but what I have also noticed is that at the point the client fails, the server is swiching to a new buffer file in the buffer folder. In this case from
live-BBC TWO-4376
to
live-BBC TWO-4376-2

I've tried that a few times and its consistent. The time varies slightly, but is usually within a few seconds of 6 minutes and 40m seconds on this channel/tuner combo.

I'm fairly sure mine is a different problem to Zaldwaik's

Thanks Sub, Yes it helped, I still got a brief stutter, but it kept going past the 6:40 on to the new buffer file. Do you need any of the logs etc to refine it further?

Edit....
Actually, on further testing - I didn't get another stutter after the first roll over. So consider this one very satisfied customer - again. Thanks Sub.

Sub,
Why does not recording playback/livetv use the same mechanism used to playback files directly through videos (fileshare). I use NMT, and it works fine using the same network cable I use with the NPVR client where is stutters with recording/livetv playback. Could not the NPVR client use the same protocol/mechanism for recordings/livetv playback as the NMT?

I remember a choice between using streaming and file share in the old GBPVR, is all streaming now?

Just trying to get my client to work and does not appear to have moved much from the old one.

Just because...

It is largely the same. Better buffering and playback capabilities on the NMT are the real difference here, not the streaming mechanism.

Yes. Streaming was my preference, and I didnt want to have to support both streaming and file sharing.

Did that patch fix your lockup?

I've run the client for a fair while now, with no sign of a client freeze, however (there always one of those isn't there) when I hit the record button in the middle of a live tv program, the server created a folder with the name of the current program, with 5 files in it, all growing at the same time. Is that right? It also threw the client back to the program schedule screen.

I just tried it here, and I didnt see that happen. It seemed to work fine for me.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the npvr.log from the client, and nrecord.log from the server.
