Carpe, how does the software decide what file extension to create? I assumed that it is the config setting, which I have set to TS, but when a virtual tuner from Graphrecorder launches a recording, I must create a file with an MPG extension or the system hangs; even a TS extension will not satisfy it. It seems that different tuners have different expectations.

GraphRecorder changes the extension in the fileWriter filter. Not sure why the system would hang that may be a filter issue or tuner issue as you mention.

Filewriter filter, you say? Tell me more, my good man. Is there any chance of me manipulating such a filter and changing to a different extension?

I'm sorry to be an idiot, but I need to understand this. My main GBPVR config.xml file specifies a .ts extension. As a result, when I use a BDA tuner, GBPVR waits for a .ts extension. However, when I use any of the Graphrecorder tuners, GBPVR waits for a .mpg extension. (I didn't really mean that it "hangs," but that the recording process waits until it sees FILE_20100923_13001400.mpg in the folder; it will not respond to FILE_20100923_13001400.ts, FILE_20100923_13001400.dvr-ms, etc.). I have checked the configuration files for each virtual tuner in the Plugins\Graphrecorder folder, and I can't find ".mpg" or any other extension specified in any of them. I've also checked the database as thoroughly as I can, and can't see anything that would change the anticipated extension from one tuner to the next. Where is ".mpg" coming from?

For the GBPVR file writer filter, I right click on it in GraphEdit and a box opens to specify a file name (and path, if IIRC). I just enter something like dump.ts or dump.mpg. GBPVR replaces "dump" with its desired filename, but keeps the extension. I use this to capture from a STB via firewire in both mpg and ts formats. Always, mpeg, however. Don't know about anything else.

For reference, I use a graph something like this to capture TS:

Firewire capture filter > Nvidia TS info parser > GBPVR file writer

I'm coming late to the party here, but I haven't found any info so far in this thread to help, so here's my issue.

Windows 7 Pro.
GBPVR V 1.4.7
WINTV HVR 1250

I understand from other forum threads that GBPVR does not support the HVR1250 but that it is possible to use it with GraphRecorder.

I have downloaded and installed GraphRecorder V2.0 (from the GBPVR Wiki).

I have put copies of the 2 dlls (DirectShowLib-2005.dll and GraphRecorder.dll) in the GBPVR folder, the GBPVR/Plugins folder, GBPVR/Plugins/GraphRecorder folder and the GBPVR/Plugins/Common folder.

When I start the config app, my understanding is that GraphRecorder show show up as a Recording Source when setting the Capture Sources. It does not.

Any suggestions of what I may be missing?

Thanks.

Why aren't you considering using NPVR instead?

I've tried that and I couldn't get NPVR working at all with that card. I'm more familiar with GBPVR, so I thought that might be the easiest to get working.

But I'm certainly open to using NPVR if someone can direct me through the config for the HVR 1250 card.

The files only need to be in GBPVR/plugins/graphRecorder. Can you try again and post the config logs.
