I wanted to ask if anyone could help me figure out why my new installation with a Hauppauge 1250 isn't working for me. NPVR is running, I scanned channels and they are showing in the guide. But when I choose to view live TV or watch a show on the guide, I just get a black screen, no audio or video. Do you know why this is happening and how to fix? I tried all the different decoders, but it makes no difference.

I read something on one post about registering a .dll or something along those lines. Something about the Arcsoft decoder not being available "system wide". Problem is the post wasn't very detailed and I am not sure how to go about doing this process (or which file this is even referring to).

EDIT: Oh yeah, another issue... how do you get the remote to function in NPVR?

Thanks!

1. The remote is the kind that connects to the card.
2. I am not sure what I did, but now I have video showing. But, no sound. Everything else on the PC has sound like normal over my HDMI out of the ATI 5570. I have tried ffdshow audio decoder, Dscaler Audio decoder and Arcsoft MPEG audio decoder.

Right now, the video decoders are set to - MPEG2 Video: Dscaler MPEG2 - H.264: ffdshow video decoder. I am not sure which is the one that is affecting what I am viewing from my digital cable feed.

Video Renderer is set to EVR and the Audio Render is set to Direct Sound ATI HD Audio Rear Output. I have also tried the plain ATI HD Audio Rear Output (which is a separate choice).

Operating system is Windows XP 32bit

UPDATE: the sound is now working with the Dscaler Audio Decoder. I didn't realize you had to exit and reenter live tv for the new settings to work.

Still don't have anything from the remote, though...

for the remote I can only say as I'v pointed out in many other threads, HIP works excellent once you set it properly up (it's not whichcraft, just read the instructions and do as you'r told, don't expect it to fix itself) Smile

Does HIP work with the hauppauge remotes that are connected to the actual tuner card, not USB? I suppose I can just try it and find out. Thanks!

Another question... When I have my cable line plugged directly into my TV I seem to get more channels (mostly standard def). They don't seem to be coming through on the card. Is this something that this card can't receive?

Ok, I know you said follow instructions... which instructions? I can't find anything that useful on the HIP website.

I installed it, but I am not sure which app I should use. Nothing that I tried (I think I tried most of them) seem to detect my remote.

It is weird, the remote doesn't seem to do anything in any application I have tried.

Some cards require a stronger signal to find all channels, so if you have a splitter try removing it.

About HIP, try this website: http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?showforum=44

Edit: Which version of hip did you download, and did you download it from here http://www.byremote.com.au/HIP/default.htm

No splitter yet... that is a future addition. But, I wasn't sure if this card has a limitation on not getting SD channels or something. I have a signal booster in my garage somewhere, I will try that.

I did get the HIP from there. I looked some in their forums, but I didn't find a whole lot regarding my specific remote and card. I will start a thread over there. I just figured there would be someone here using the same setup and perhaps they could share their approach. I am totally lost on how this thing works at all... consider me a complete noob on it.

Either way, thanks Reddwarf.

Y'r welcome, I have no experience with Haupp. remotes so can't help you with that. Good luck! Smile
