Problem with streaming with VLC via EWA

Good morning, UJB. Yes, of course i deleted a lot of times the cache manually.

This time i activated the "recognition of interactive services" within Win 7. As it looks like, the reason for the "standing vlc" is that: "vlc player just crashed. do you want to send a bug report... <blah>". Without this service activated this message wasn't viewable.

Ok, the calling of vlc.exe from newa let's crash vlc.exe. Now is the big question: why? I'll go back into bed again, not enough slept...

Hey Uncle. Nice thread, but i can not delete, what is not existent. ^^ I don't have any plugin.dat in this folder. And you know, like me, that i often enough deleted this folder complete and tried irect after this to stream via NEWA.

So there's no progress on this part.

Anything in the c:\temp\vlc.log ?

What is in this folder: %appdata%\vlc (pop this into your run box on the server)

As long vlc is crashing on newa call, there will be no logfile. So there's exactly nothing.

There are 4 files:
ml.xspf
vlc-qt-interface.ini
vlcrc
vlcrc.5488

Nothing more.

try removing the vlcrc.5488 file but leave the other files.

UJB, it seems that we make some progress (just tested with 2 files local on the server).

With all your applied patches for NEWA we have now the following condition:
I can start vlc.exe and it WORKS now (cpu-usage), but it produces an "interactive error":


Last but not least, i hope this will not change again. I NEED NEWA. XD

PS: Your added logging was... ehm, see yourself:

You can get more log information if you start VLC on the server, go to tools, preferences, click on all settings at the bottom, select logging under advanced, set the file to be c:\temp\vlc.log and set the logging level to be 3, click on save and close VLC. Now try to start a stream on the server from the client.

I'm having this exact problem. all was streaming fine until yesterday. I can manually stream vlc from the server to the client. I followed the thread and i guess i can not figure out what the solution was - is? I've down graded vlc to 1.8 and reinstalled npvr. no luck. I've tried to setup the logging on vlc but nothing shows up in the log. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the response. I didn’t mean to seem impatient.

Here is some more details.
I don’t think it’s a firewall or router issue. I’ve have been streaming movies to my daughter at college. Additionally I can take vlc on the server and manually stream a recording on port 7648 and watch the stream on a client with vlc.
When requesting a stream from the client, I think the vlc service gets started but it does not launch the stream.

I still have not been able to find or create a log file for vlc.

I hope this helps clear up some of the issues.
