Hi

I have only just discovered this software and forum, but it looks like just the thing I need.

I presume that given a suitable server with TV tuner cards in I can get that to schedule and record TV for later playback via DLNA to a PS3?

Is it also possible to stream live TV over a network for viewing on a PS3 (or network attached TV) and pause, etc?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I did a search of the forums and couldn't find any mention.

Thanks in advance
Rupert

But you can set up a pc-client with a tv connected to it and stream live-tv to it from the computer that has the tv-capturecard(s).

If your TV understands DNLA, then you can work with Windows 7 Media Player. It is possible to connect the tv with your PC and use the tv as render media. This works at least for recordings and movies. For ps3 i have no idea, i don't own one by myself.

Sub: Just out of curiosity, would it be possible (in real life, in theory everything is possible) to write a client that runs on PS2/3?

As the PS3 and the TV both understand DLNA I was wondering whether it would be possible to stream the live TV out via that, or alternatively I have currently got TwonkyServer installed on the box with the tuner cards in, so could the live TV be streamed through that somehow as that will stream internet TV feeds?

There used to be linux stuff for PS3, but Sony have recently blocked/disabled it. I'd be suprised if the windoze libraries that would be required for an NPVR client would ever be possible at all. I have however been using a tversity media server on my GBPVR machine to scan my media folders and present them to my network. That works really well on the PS3 and the recorded programs look great on my games room 42" LCD. The only problem I have is the slightly cryptic file names. It would be simple enough to sort with a script, but it doesn't bother me as I'm used to it. Plus of course I can't watch live TV.

Server: Ci5 2500k, 3GB, Windows Server 2012, nPVR 3.5.7. 2xWinTV-DVB-T USB, 1xWinTV-DVB-T PCI, 2 x BlackGold DVB-T, 1xPCTV290E and 1xPCTV460E on Astra 28.2 E.
clients: RPI2, Acer R3700, PCH-A110, NUC, 3xSamsung Smart TV

Although I've never done it, I've always thought it might be possible to stream live tv to the ps3 using a combination of ps3mediaserver and vlc.

Capture card live tv stream -> VLC -> ps3mediaserver (using VLC streaming) -> PS3.

Of course, even if this worked, I'm not sure that it would be the ps3 front end that you're looking for, since you'd be accessing the stream via XMB.
