Hi,

Just shifted to NPVR after real problems getting GBVRP working (see Banging head thread on GBPVR forum) and this is after years of good experience, but a wiped hard disk seems to have stopped GBPVR working properly.

Anyway, I've installed NPVR and can't really get it to work much. I running XP SP3 + all patches & the DirectX & other required patches listed on this forum.

I have 2 Hauppage Nova-T 90002 cards in the pc. I also have WinTV v6 from Hauppage and can watch any channel on that so I know my cards work & the aerial's fine.

My problems are:
1. No live TV.
2. Can't record
3. Channel 4 shows no programs after Sunday morning. Pain, as I want to record Time Team!

I'm used to posting logs for GBPVR, but have no idea if you can/should do the same for NPVR.

As always, any advice is gratefully received. Quite happy to be told I'm doing it all wrong! :o

Of course you should post logs. See the sticky thread linked in my signature. If nothing else you'll find out where the logs are, and you may see something that helps you with your problems. The NPVR documentation wiki is starting to shape up as well (no thanks to me at all), and you'll find a link to that in post #1 of the sticky thread.

Yep, definitely need the logs. See post above for details on where to get logs.

nrecord.log and npvr.log. Start with logs just showing the live tv not working.

That log looks like it shows a scan, but no attempt to start live tv.

The NRecord log you posted is from November 4th, and shows live tv and recordings, both of which look ok from that side.
The NPVR log you posted is from November 5th, and shows no attempts to watch live tv or playback a recording. In that log I see several channels scans and epg updates.

You need to post the matching NRecord and NPVR log so we can see what both sides of the program are doing. Or just post them all and let us figure out which logs to look in.

That all said, given that the NRecrod log shows good livetv and good recordings, and the NPVR log shows good scans and good epg updates, I suspect your primary problem is you don't have the right video and audio decoders installed AND SELECTED in Settings on the Decoders page. I did make some notes about decoders in the Getting Started sticky thread.

Ok. I'll look at the video/audio decoder issue and also post the logs. When my wife comes off that computer! :o)

Thanks for your help.

I attach 4 logs from today & yesterday (4th & 5th).

I've looked at the sticky bit on decoders which, to be honest, I didn't find helped me much. I set the Audi one to Realtek AC97 - which is my sound chip - but I've no idea what to use for the video. When using GBPVR I had the Cyberlink Mux thingy installed (recommended by a Forum member - Brian Gowland 3 years ago).

Thanks
