lucille84 Wrote:Hi, running WinXP SP2, .Net 3.5

On first run I too got the unhandled exception messages - after killing the process and renewing the MSIE) login I ran again and the main program Netflix TX Desktop appeared to start the db build program but hung at step 1 at 70% complete.

Again, killing the process and emptying the MovieInfo folder and deleting the movieinfo.ldb - then rerunning Desktop produced the same result.

Running the Desktop prog only launches the database updater never see the desktop itself.

I do see that the movieinfo.ntf file is untouched and original size (write permission is enabled btw)

Changed time to renew back to 7 but the Desktop prog still appears to launch the Database Build prog.

Ooops - one time it did get complete step 1 and proceeded to step 2, during which it gave err code 14523 for each of the first 16 of 14523 movies then hung again.

I'd sure like to get this running Wink -- do you have any ideas what I can do to help you debug this? -or that I can do differently?

Thanks

Hi lucille,

A couple of things to look for, please do all steps even if you are sure you've done them before:

1) Using Internet Explorer, go to http://www.netflix.com and if it asks you to login, then that is the problem (IE occasionally deletes your cookie). Log in and check the box to remember you. This is necessary for the database builder to work.

2) If you are in Canada there needs to be a line in your .ini file that says "Canadian=True" otherwise it should say 'Canadian=False"

3) Do you have version 2.6.0.0? If not, you need to upgrade, because any earlier version will no longer work.

Let me know the answers to these and I can work on it from there.

Thanks,

-DH

Do you want to see the PHP errs from the failed loading?

Thanks for helping,
TomH

There should be log files in {your netflix folder}\movieinfo\logs

Zip up that directory and post the zip file here. What is PHP?

DH,
Attached is the zip o fthe current /logs/ dir _ I had to SNIP out the middle of the file as it was 30MB (uncompressed)
This is the most recent attempt at running 'Desktop' where it completed Step 1 and diring Step 2 it proceeded to give the Code (14523) errs for many thousands of movies before locking up my PC.
(?PHP? - that line was a brain fade, as I was working on two things at the same time)
Thanks

I'm having the same issue once it completes 1 of 2 and start 2 of 2 process I get the 14523 error of each movie, I let it run anyway to see if it would at least finished teh DB download even I got 14523 error and the system end up rebooting.

Any ideas why this all stop working I even wiped my folder out and started with a new fresh copy of 2.6.0 with the same results.

I have attached my log after letting if run for about trying to run it and killing the process was tried of the error popups.

OK, for some reason you aren't getting the genres when you scrape the website. Please send me a couple of html files from IE:

Hey DJ,

You are getting access denied errors. I haven't figured out where this error comes from. Please reboot your computer, reboot your internet modem and run it again. Send me the log files after that. Maybe that will fix something and I'll get something more informative.

Anything you ask for, sounds like you're onto something...

From The above links, attached is zip of the source files for the pages.

EDIT -- MSIE cookie is being retained - am recognized after restarts & cold starts.
EDIT2 - Is it required that MSIE be set as default browser? ((I did set that and tried the full TX Desktop.exe gain with same results as previous. Also, am able to get Netflix Watch Instantly streaming just fine through both MSIE and Firefox on any of my networked computers.

Good hunting

Hey DH

I don't have any good news this is what I've done trying to resolve the access is denied issue
1. Rebooted cable modem
2. Rebooted firewall (Linux firewall been up since Nov last year without a reboot)
3. Reboot wireless AP
4. Reboot both computers.
5. Have nothing else to reboot..:-) could go out and start the car but don't think it will help..lol
6. I even went on Netflix and deactivate my PC and logged back in to Netflix to see if it would activate it again and it did (did this to make sure Netflix was able to add my PC back in the device list)
I have attached the new log files, yes I wipe the old logs to get you new logs..

I will need to send youa test version, because the html files you sent me are identical to the ones I get and the program is working perfectly on my end. I'll work up a test version and get it to you as soon as possible.

thanks,
