I figured out what's causing it. There is an unescaped ampersand on that line "... Roscoe Wallace talks about R&B ...". This shouldn't cause it to throw an error (because the xml file is set as "ISO-8859-1" encoding in the header) but it does. I can have a fix for you tonight. I can create a small app that will read the xmltv file, then save it back in UTF-8 encoding and it should take care of it. You would just have to run it in UpdateEPG.bat after your mc2xml runs.

That's funny because I remember reading a post that I think mentioned something about '&and' or similar. But, why wouldn't this give many others the same problem?
However, please don't go to any trouble on my account. I can certainly live with what I have now and I appreciate you and others taking the time to look at this problem.

I already have all the code for reading and writing an xmltv file. I just need to throw it together with a couple lines of code and it's done.

How could I turn down something you've already done? When I get off the antibiotics, I'll have a few beers in your honor. Again, a big thanks for your help.

Interesting, my xmltv deserializer doesn't like it either. I have a way to fix that though.

Keep in mind that only the xml generated from XMLTV GUI throws this error up. But, I'd be interested to know if that had any affect on why my listings are much short than they should be. I'm still thinking there's something else either that I've set up wrong or just not working right. I've got too many installs of NPVR to screw things up but as I age, my recollection is going.
Take out the Linux programs and you can't really find many front ends for xmltv any more. Thankfully, the ones I use are free. Even though SD lists some GUI's for xmltv, you'd think they would offer one of their own and charge a few $$$ it.

It is pure superstition that you can't drink alcohol when you'r on antibiotics. The thing is, you need to complete the cure or the bacterias can get resistent. In the old days, antibiotics were mainly given to sailors because of veneric deseases, and when they drank they forgot all about taking their medicine, so doctors used to say: If you drink while on this cure you won't get well, so don't drink! Just because I like to punish myself, I tried TVG and the resulting XML file also stops at 5 days. Can't be these all cause the same problems.

As for antibiotics, I have a sinus infection and the doc suggested that i take it easy for 2 or 3 days. The first batch didn't work so I drank Saturday night Big Grin and am starting a second batch. I must admit, I don't drink that much but do so love good beer and not the lite crap they push on tv. I use to make my own when I was younger. Now with that stuff, I never got sinus infections and need antibiotics.

I figured out the issue: It's not that it doesn't like the ampersand, it's because the text is actually "... talks about R&B; nephew ...".

Notice that "B" is sandwiched between the ampersand and the semicolon. This was why it through the error that "B" was an undeclared entity. It is reading it as an escaped string like "'" now I just have to figure out how to fix it. It would be a LOT easier to fix it in the original code that produced the file.
