SUB, are you able to reproduce the issue?

Here is what i got when playing interlaced video in nPVR and VMR7/VMR9 (overlay/EVR works):

The thread name is not correct now, your new unmanaged.dll fixed AR problem, image is simply not streached.
There is not such problem if i play this video in Graphstudio.

I was able to reproduce, but only when hardware acceleration is enabled. ffdshow works fine (no dxva support). mainconcept works fine when hardware acceleration setting is disabled, but has the same problem with hardware acceleration enabled. The Microsoft decoder has the problem, since dxva is disabled. Try disabling it and you'll see what I mean.

Make sure you enable "set interlace flag..." in FFDshow:

That is my (SAF5) FFDshow setup for MPEG2 videos (must be NV12 to have HW deinterlacing).

Either way, its only doing it with hardware acceleration (or possibly just the hardware deinterlacing), and I'm not sure what I can do differently to fix it.

I hate to say it, but doesn't this make NPVR kind of useless on XP, unless you have a CPU powerful enough to decode HD in software alone?

I definitely wouldnt say that. Most people would have no problems playing SD MPEG2 content without hardware acceleration. The problem doesnt occur with H.264 content.

The problem isnt caused by NPVR, and affects other apps too. You see the same thing in graphedit when you use the VMR9 renderer (as soon as you touch the Size X/Y sliders in the VMR9 renderer settings).

There is one work around, which involves using the 'full' aspect ratio instead of 'auto', for those that really dont want to do MPEG2 playback without hardware acceleration.

Windows XP is practical history and is no longer in the heart of the software or even driver developers. And yet you can still use Windows XP for playback of hd media. Because even an Intel ATOM 330 is able to decode hd material. This one is although too busy, but shows reasonably current competitors are no less powerful.
It is not a such a huge problem to use software rather than hardware decoding within windows xp.
You like nPVR? Then please help pay the bills, and keep the project alive!

For me it hapends even on interlaced AVC if DxVA is in use, so it is not only MPEG-2 related.

You maybe right. I dont know. Personally I think people should try and get on Win7 with EVR.

Eitherway, you can see the same problem in graphedit (with no NPVR components) as I mentioned above.

Yes, i was able to reproduce it.
Strange that GB-PVR doesnot have this issue.
