Wow indeed. Wasn't expecting that!

It seems to work, and properly handles the sample I'd posted earlier. It does have some terrible screen tearing though (both on video and on OSD graphics, like the aspect ratio messages, or the TV Guide). Any chance of a FSE option? Big Grin <ducks for cover>

lol - you can never please some people. No, no chance of FSE. The UI is done separately from the video playback these days, using different incompatible technology so they cant be mixed together in a fullscreen exclusive mode. This VMR9 Custom should be fare the same as GBPVR's VMR9 Custom when it comes to tearing. They're pretty much doing the same thing.

Thanks for custom VMR9, seems to fix most of the problems.

New issue is tearing - even forced Vsync didn't remove it.

BTW, there is no way to enable/use vsync by deafult?

It already tells it to use vsync, but I know often direct3d cant or wont.

You could see if this patch helps. It locks the direct3d backbuffer, which can sometimes helps with tearing.

(there is also a VMR9FSE-like renderer option in this version)

just curious, as I'm sure others are as well: does the new "VMR9FSE-like renderer" have the same limitations as VMR9-FSE did in GB-PVR? Primarily I mean the inability to run external tasks and plugins that call external video players?

SUB, of course it fixed tearing issue!
But new one apear - by some reason HW deinterlacin stops to work. DxVA is working, just picture have interlaced artifacts

FSE seems to be working without any problem, tearing is gone and HW deinterlacing working as it should.

BTW, i noticed selected video render in decoders section is used even for DVD playback.

Another issue found - some videos (like my m2ts interlaced sample i posted) doesnot use VMR9 custom/VMR9 FSE renderer - there is 2 renderers in graph, VMR9 and VMR9 001. Picture is ok (but wrong AR), DxVA is in use (FFDshow DxVA decoder), but no OSD and F7 doesnot working.

EDIT:
Looks like it happend on h.264 + VC-1 decoded by DxVA, MPEG-2 + DxVA and rest of videos (divx/xvid/etc...) is working.

I've just given it a very quick test, and the improved VMR9 Custom option seemed to have dramatically less tearing for me - although there was still a tiny amount - but I couldn't see even the slightest hint of it with the FSE option. Stunning!

Do you have vsync enabled in GPU drivers?
