Just me missing something as usual no doubt.

Making the move to NPVR from GB-PVR on same machine, same devices etc. Know I did not have this error before with 1.3.3. Just to check ran up all 3 devices I have in GB-PVR on different clients simultaneously they all worked playing TV.

I get message 'device failed to start'

but is this referring to my PVR 150 (in which case I know there is an error with analog device & NPVR to be worked out) or my trusty FiredTV device? I think this refers to my FiredTV device which I know is working brilliantly with GB-PVR. (Just checked Big Grin )

This is with NPVR 1.3.6 and no patches, did I miss something?

cheers

Bump Big Grin

Dear all, probably done something really stupid and wrong so just need advice.

Could swear I had this working with NPVR v1.3.33

NPVR running on same server as GB-PVR, same devices. Disabled Hauppauge Nova-S for NPVR and did not allocate any channels to my PVR-150 to reduce test. (A bug I think still with disabling analog devices?)

After installing NPVR 1.3.36 I get error message for my trusty FiredDTV. I know it works, just watched TV with it on server and GB-PVR.

Killed GB-PVR recording service. Stopped and started NPVR service. No device found.

Logs attached.

All suggestions warmly received.

Thank you Wink

One thing worth noting. It looks like you dont have the required DirectX components installed, so its falling back to software rendering of the UI. Higher CPU, no animation etc. Unless you were using remote desktop for the session that generated these logs - since that disables directx on a remote session.

Does scanning work on this device? If so, can you post an npvr.log after a scan?

Thanks Sub. No not remoting in, native on server. What would be the fix for the DirectX issue? Ran DXDiag tool and tests - 'Direct3D 9 test results: All tests were successful'. Reinstall DirectX?

From the sticky, you need to install http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/de...laylang=en

Thanks Sub,

could have sworn I had done this many moons back, sure enough installer will not run as get message

'DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is necessary' Big Grin

Bad install? Uninstall and re-install?

cheers

Sorry, I dont know. Either way, your logs look like its failing to initialise directx, and it falls back to software rendering your UI.

Thanks Sub,

as a result of trying to clear up the DirectX issue I rolled back to a cleaner installation on my server (pre NPVR) and reinstalled NPVR (1.3.6). Whatever was causing the FireDTV device to not work is no longer a problem, works fine again.

HOWEVER I have discovered solving DirectX installation issues is a major headache Big Grin And am unable to resolve this error. Just to be sure if I remain running NPVR in this current state (falling back to software rendering of UI) will that affect anything else (for instance I cannot get PVR150 to work). Or do I need to really resolve DirectX issue first?

cheers muchly
