lol, nevermind, use sub's (mine will work too, but sub is sub so sub's entries are the official ones).

And I thought that each could operate (analog and digital) at the same time. I could be wrong though.
No, according to the specs at Hauppauge, an HVR-1950 is strictly a single tuner device. The extra few minutes I spent verifying that fact is what let sub beat me to posting the device rule Wink

My devicerules.xml file reflects the following:

<Rules>
<SharedNames>
<!-- Hauppauge 88x family -->
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-S/S2 Tuner/Demod" resource="Hauppauge 88x" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-T Tuner/Demod" resource="Hauppauge 88x" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x Video Capture" resource="Hauppauge 88x" />

<!-- Hauppauge HVR-22xx family -->
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture" resource="Hauppauge 22xx" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA DVBT Tuner" resource="Hauppauge 22xx" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA ATSC/QAM Tuner" resource="Hauppauge 22xx" />

<!-- Hauppauge 418 family -->
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 418 BDA Tuner" resource="Hauppauge 418" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture" resource="Hauppauge 418" />

<Filter name="Hauppauge HVR USB2 BDA Tuner/Demod" resource="Hauppauge 418" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge HVR USB2 Video Capture" resource="Hauppauge 418" />
</SharedNames>

</Rules>

I can watch an analog channel while another analog channel is recording.

I can't watch a digital channel while another analog channel is recording.

When recording a digital channel, I can watch another digital channel, but not another analog channel.

Yep. Even restarted again after your post.

The situation did improve slightly, now I can watch two digital channels at the same time, before I could only watch two analog channels (record) at once.

It doesn't appear to be obeying the DeviceRules setting. Just for giggles, try my devicerules entry instead of sub's. The only difference is that sub's entry uses the same resource name as the Hauppauge 418 entries above it... in theory it shouldn't matter, but maybe there's a bug where it gets confused if there are more than two entries with the same resource name. I admit I'm grasping at straws now, but I can't think of any reason for it to ignore the DeviceRules entry.

If that doesn't work, run a filtercheck (post #3 of the sticky, in the utilities section) and post your log.
