nPVR 1.5.36 with patches hung

Hi

I have had nPVR hang a couple of times, I run 1.5.36 with all current patches (have uised the ones in the sticky).

nPVR is installed on a PC with Windows XP sp3 (with all patches), two FloppyDTV (equivalent of FireDTV). No monitor connected to this PC, all viewing is done through a NMT A-110 with Martins mvpmcx2 (have installed the latest one and was running it during this event).

My son watched a movie about noon and when his friend got here he just pressed STOP on the remote and started playing. When we were about to start watching a movie just now the NMT had a black screen, I was not able to shut it down with the remote and was forced to close it down with the power-switch on the NMT.
Then I logged in to the recordings machine and tried a right-click in the status-icon. But I got no menu, after restarting the nPVR Recordingservice the right-click menu appeared. This has happened a few times lately but I did not have the latest patches installed and did not report it.

Another strange thing I noticed when checking the right-click menu. There are no programs shown under pending recordings under Status. But nPVR do record programs and the pending recordings do appear i NEWA, perhaps something is missing in my installation?

I see may hours of MVP logs with no key presses, but unfortunately they don't go back far enough to really show anything when your son pressed stopped. If I had to guess you have an HDMI monitor and you just let mvpmcx2 run with the monitor either off, or tuned to another source and that will cause a problem, it is not designed to run in the background on HDMI.

Yes, it is HDMI and the TV was shut off. I can see that the NMT could get stuck, but why would that cause a hung recordingservice?
When I restarted the recordingservice some pending recordings kicked in but they finished arter only 1 minute 15 seconds. And I had to restart recordingservice once again, this time the NMT was not on.

Perhaps I should open another thread about the "missing" pending recordings, that is also a mystery to me. The recordings get performed and are visible if I go into the recordings section of nPVR. But if I look at the status view (either through right-click on the icon choosing status or in the settings) the pending is blank. But when a recording do occur it is shown under the correct tuner. I know it worked earlier but since I only connect to the recording machine when doing maintenance I do not use any right-click and unfortunatly have not tested it for quite a while.

This is intentional. This pending recordings information being shown in the tray app was causing some performance problems, and since this info isnt that important I removed it. It may return in a future release when I have to implement it in a more optimal way.

That's normal with the current release of NPVR; I think the Pending list went away with a patch to 1.5.33. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but rest assured it's not a problem with your system.

edit: oh good grief, sub beat me again... that's what I get for stopping half-way though my post to explain to my son how glow-in-the-dark paint and plastic works.

Thank you for that reply, that explains why it is not shown. It is not avig kasus for me, as I wrote I do not use the Windows app and am happy with this. But perhaps others want it.
