I have used gbpvr for years with no problems. Since I am stuck at home for a week due to surgery I decided it was now time to upgrade to NPVR.

I have run into a snag and could use some help.

Everything seemed to setup fine, I imported my recordings from gbpvr, loaded up the same xml driven guide, but then when I went to play the recordings or live tv, the screen goes black. I can back out of it but it just goes black and sits there indefinitely.

I tried playing video from my media library and that works fine, it just seems to be with live tv and recordings. I am not sure where npvr stores its logs or if I have to turn them on. Please let me know where I can find the logs to I can attach.

Thank you in advance.

On a side note, gbpvr has been in my house for years and has worked great. Thank you to the whole community for making this a great piece of software!

Have you been to the Settings -> Decoders screen and selected decoders to use?

I tried all different combination but it seems like nothing looks as good as it did in gbpvr. I will try doing some searching on here for decoder recommendations. I did get the video working. Thank you for the help!

If you use the same decoder and renderer as GBPVR, then you should get the same results.

That's what I did sub, I also "removed the letterbox" in the aspect ratio which brought it up to fullscreen. Npvr seems to run smoother then gbpvr in general too.
Thanks again to Sub and others!

Time to make a donation!

ok, new issues.

My wife did a few manual recordings which recorded no problem and we viewed the shows.

She also scheduled a few "season" recordings. Several eppisodes recorded but when we went to play them back the result, although listing a length of 1/2 hour was a 10 second pixelated, skippy, mess showing very small clips randomly from the 1/2 hour program.

Any idea as to why this would happen?
If you need the logs, let me know where i can find them and i will attach. Thanks.

Also, on a totally unrelated topic, in gbpvr once you had watched a show, in the menu their was a visual cue that something had been previously viewed. I am not seeing that in npvr. Am i missing it?

If it helps any, the machine is running XP and has 2 Hauppauge500 (dual 150's) cards (so 4 tuners total).

regarding logs, see the sticky in my signature. however, if you haven't seen that sticky, then you don't have patches either. put in the patch archive, then try again. if still no happiness, then post logs.

regarding the viewed indicator, sub has added that for the next release.

logs attached. This time, it recorded about 2/3 of a show and then just cut off. Its like the tuners are not firing consistently when they need to. Oh and during install I did install the cumulative patch you provided in the sticky.

The current NRecord.log is not in that .zip file. It looks like you still had the recording service running when you made that archive, and whatever program you used to make the .zip ignored the open log file. Either shutdown the recording service before making the log file, or use a program that will include the log even though it's still open. Windows' built-in .zip handling works fine for me.

Also, please identify what show it was and when it recorded.
