I also have a standby issue with npvr. I am on Vista. When I first reboot the PC it sleeps fine. Once it records a show, it will never sleep again. I just tried to install DX9 because I was not positive I had it. The installer told me I had a newer version and would not let me install it. I checked with DXChecker and I am running DX11 Any idea how to install DX9? (and is this likely my standby issue?)

Yes, go to the link Sub gave and download the "DirectX 9 Runtime". I had Directx 9c installed on my PC, but this I had to install additionally before the problem was fixed.

That is what I did and it would not let me install it. I tired it again and it says the same or equivelent is already installed. I think it is time to reload Vista. I have other odd problems with the system anyway. Thanks for the ideas.

My new Windows 7 installation with DX11 will not let me install this either, just get the "new or equivalent already installed". This is when running the dxwebsetup.exe from the link (286 KB, 9.29.1973, 11/30/2010) which tries to install from the web. Near the bottom of that page is a link to "DirectX End-User Runtimes installer", which takes you to a download page for directx_Jun2010_redist.exe (95.6 MB, 9.29.1962, 6/7/2010). I'm downloading that now. Is that what we need to get DX9 installed for Win7?
What, me worry?

interesting, I've had no problem installing that update on my Win7 machines.

question though - if you start NextPVR.exe without the update, do you get any DirectX error? if not, then you can assume that Windows update has already taken care of it.

either way, let us know what works.

I recently reinstalled W7 and my system woke up each morning and I found it to be the update for Windows Media Center. Seems that even if you don't have it configured for tuner use, it will wake to try anyway. Under 'scheduled events' you can see what wakes your machine.
Also, at a command prompt, type 'powercft lastwake' (without quotes) and it should tell you what woke your machine.

Correction....it's Task Scheduler not scheduled events.

I'm not getting any errors, but the machine does not sleep anymore, and I was trying to confirm this was not the cause. How can I confirm that DX9 is installed? Dxdiag only reports DX11. I recall sub mentioned there will be an indicator for this in the next release, so there must be some way to check.
What, me worry?

In the next release it'll show a warning message if this error is in your logs "Error initialising Direct3D:".

if you don't have dx9 working right, there will be a pretty big error right at the top of the NPVR.log. if you don't see the error and message about "continuing with DirectX disabled", then you should be fine.
