The "per-capture source" solution has been mentioned before and I agree with sub that it is not a practical solution.
A number of ideas have been mentioned but my preference (to please most people) is to have an additional configuration parameter (e.g. in config.xml) where the user can specify the default startup aspect ratio for any playback. I.E.: AUTO (default value) - current behaviour in NPVR for most users (before patch earlier in this thread) FILL/4:3/etc. (I.E. a specific over-riding mode) LAST-ASPECT - current behaviour after patch Does anybody know how other PVRs handle this, maybe there is an idea that we can steal?

and doesnt help for playback of recordings later (which are not associated with any capture source at that point).
