I have just tried to install my new PCTV NanoStick DVB-T2 290E card. It appeared to install very easily, so I tried recording, which appeared to work. The video file was created and I could view it using 'VLC'. (no sound yet in VLC).
When I tried to play the recording in NPVR I just got a blank screen. Thinking that it might be to do with decoder I went into 'Settings' and selected 'Decoders', it displayed the top two lines at which point NPVR crashed.
Disabling and removing the device makes no difference, it still crashes on trying to enter 'Decoders'.

What did the crash message say?

The only message was a windows 7 message saying 'NextPVR has stopped working'. On closing the message window, Npvr closed. The windows event log shows a nextpvr application error, without any more info.

To be honest, I've got no idea. There is no sign of any error in the logs, and that crash message doesnt give much in the way of clues.

Ok, thanks for the help. I tried the same set-up on two other systems and they both works as expected, so I started dissecting the software on the failing system. Low and behold, when I uninstall Ulead Moviefactory six, the problem was no more. Now all I have to do is to get the sound working on this card, even though the Monogram decoder has been installed!

You could try the DivX AAC Decoder, it has worked for HE-AAC when Monogram does not.

The 'ArcSoft Audio Decoder HD' decoder also works for HE-AAC.

The only audio codec that works for me on UK freeview HD content is the Arcsoft codec mentioned by Sub. See here for details on how to download and install it (post #43).

I have the same problem but my problem started when I installed ffdshow codecs. The last line in the NPVR log is "Getting Decoders for type: MEDIATYPE_Video, subtype: MEDIASUBTYPE_MPEG2_VIDEO."

I think the problem is external to NextPVR - the codecs got messed up, but I don't know how to fix them. Does anyone know how?

You don't provide much information. My advice would be to remove every possible decoder and begin again adding only the decoders that you actually need. You may find the Windows option to remove or uninstall programs has an entry for the decoders you are trying to uninstall. Also, there may be groups in the Start menu for some of the decoders that show a Uninstall item in the Start Menu.

If you still have problems after the uninstalls, then provide us with some specifics such as identifying the problem decoders and we can try to help.
