Whoo Hoo! I set the switch in Settings - Recording to use background recording services and it worked. I scheduled two shows to record, with separate start times (and end times), one show 2hrs 30mins long and the other 60 mins long. Went to work, came home. Recordings done and no computer lock up! This could be the answer for others, I don't know. But it worked for me. I will now go experiment with sleep settings..........

Again, I will finish with kudos to sub and his helpers for a great piece of software.

ScaryBox, according to Sub the checkbox (Recording to use background recording services) that you set to fix your problem does not have any function that would do any difference (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post404187). Are you sure you have not changed anything else?

I scheduled 2 recordings that both started and finished at the same time.

One of the recordings completed successfully and the other shows up as failed, however if you browse the recordings folder, both recordings are present.

I checked the NextPVR tray status, after the recordings had completed/failed, and no devices were listed. I closed the NextPVR tray then ran it again. I then restarted the recording service (although windows reported it was still running), and the devices showed up again in the NextPVR tray status.

I am using a Hauppauge WinTV Nova T 500/Dual digital PCI TV tuner card, and running Windows XP.

Any comments?

I am postitive. I'm a one step at a time sort of guy and when it comes to figuring these things out I only make one change at a time. Since making the change (check box for background recording) I have recorded several shows simultaneously, watched tv while recording another channell etc etc. without one crash or missed recording.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again....I'm no programmer or anything.
