It's as I initially said, you have to get a lucky combination of renderer and decoder, and perhaps graphic card as well. I'd however recommend Windows 7.

When SUB firstly introduce custom VMR9 renderer, it fixed VMR9 bug, then wrong AR issue, but introduce teareing. Then he release next version. This one fixed tearing, but introduce broken HW deinterlacing. Here it ends.

Lets wait and see what SUB cooked in new nPVR, should be out soon. But i doubt the problem will be fixed...

I'd been planning to move to Windows 7 for ages, so this just forced the issue for me. I'm still with GBPVR for now, which had a few issues of its own under Windows 7, but at least my system is now ready for nPVR when I switch. Plus blu-rays via TMT3 seem to work a whole lot better, and I can now have bitstreamed HD audio too.

I suspect the problems you are mentioning is more of a ffdshow problem, when I used XP I never had those problems, but again I never used ffdshow.

Nope, it is renderer. The problem is decoder undepended.

In thet case it's funny I'v never seen them (except for when I tried some ffdshow based decoder of type "Dick, Joe & Harry" Wink)

Well, it is easy to reproduce.

You need WinXP and nPVR with latest SUB custom VMR9 patch
Set for example PDVD10 decoder (or any other capable to output in NV12 - like latest ATI video decoder, DScaler video decoder, etc...) for MPEG-2, make sure you have DxVA enabled. Play interlaced MPEG-2 video - deinterlacing will not be working.

That is almost an exact description of what I used when I was running XP, Cyberlink PDVD9/10, ATI 3450 graphic card, and interlaced MPEG2 video recorded. I always used DXVA with EVR. Cpu load was typically 15-18%, worked like a dream for almost two years.

And that is the problem, we are talking about Custom VMR9 renderer under XP.

BTW, DxVA will not work for h.264/VC-1 if EVR is used under XP (DxVA 1.0 OS VS DxVA 2.0 renderer conflict). MPEG-2 will work.

And yes, it worked with all the VMR9 variants too, but that typically used 50-60% cpu. Beleive me, I'v tested this very thoroughly back in those days.
