*removed*. I have tested it local and got the result from above after browsing the 2nd subfolder (FSK 06).

It looks like, that it has to do something with the amount of pictures. But ram is enough available on this machine (8 gb ram; 12 gb swap) on a raid-0 hdd setup. The mediacenter is installed on a ssd and shows exactly the same behaviour with the pictures (all pcs here show this behaviour).

I think I've got to the bottom of this problem. Give the attached patch a go.

Thank you for this patch. It's now better again, but there are currently errors available. After creating a few thumbs (~400-500 i think) the disappearing of thumbs starts again. But this time i can get them back if i highlight those files. Again there are sometimes the pictures of the subfolders (the FSK depth) missing. And in one folder i had two wrong displayed thumbs. There should be displayed a dvd cover, but npvr showed both files mit the folder.png graphics. This happened already before in previous versions of npvr.

Are you saving the thumbs as .png files with .jpg extension? IrfanView tells me on every .jpg that it's a .png with wrong extension. Perhaps it "could" have something to do with this, but i am really not sure.

Hmm, I just had a play around and I cant seem to reproduce this. Can you tell me some reproduceable set of steps to see this problem?

Yes, but these files arent intended for external use, so it doesnt really matter. I could have saved them as .thumb or similar, but it was more convenient for my development to have them as a format I can easily see in Windows Explorer.

It's fairly simple: just have enough pictures to generate thumbs. Smile
1. clear the thumbs cache
2. patch nutility.dll
3. startup npvr
4. go into videolibrary
5. browse into the movie subfolders
6. move through all FSK 00 movies, then go up and repeat on FSK 06, FSK 12, FSK 16, FSK 18 subfolders...
7. after around ~300-400 generated thumbs it's start again with it's missing pictures oder folder.png

As more files will be cached, more pictures are missing or wrong associated (like the story with folder.png to .mkv videos).

There's nothing special with my coverarts for movies: They're all progressive .jpg's @ 768x1080 with 100 dpi. It's around ~ 200 KB per picture. Only attribute is "hidden". There are only a few thousand files (i think it's currently around 3.000 cover arts).

It's the same on Windows 7 32-Bit and Windows 7 64-Bit. NVIDIA GeForce driver (latest beta / latest whql) and Intel HD Graphics.

Hmmm, I dont seem to be seeing this.

I cleared the cached, opened NPVR, opened video library, navigated into the 'Spielfilm' directory, then (in 'icon' view):

- navigated into 'FSK 00', press and held the right arrow key to move to the very right of directory, having seen all items.
- press escape to get back to 'Spielfilm'
- navigated into 'FSK 06', press and held the right arrow key to move to the very right of directory, having seen all items.
- press escape to get back to 'Spielfilm'
- navigated into 'FSK 12', press and held the right arrow key to move to the very right of directory, having seen all items.
- press escape to get back to 'Spielfilm'
- navigated into 'FSK 16', press and held the right arrow key to move to the very right of directory, having seen all items.
- press escape to get back to 'Spielfilm'
- navigated into 'FSK 18', press and held the right arrow key to move to the very right of directory, having seen all items.
- press escape to get back to 'Spielfilm'

All the way through this process, including looking in 'Spielfilm' at the end, every item had an icon visible. At the end there were 747 thumbnails in the thumbnail cache.

Are you doing something different in your test?

No, i do just exactly the same. I did it again and this time i had another results. The previews for the movies were fine this time (all 2.996 files!), but again the folder pictures appeared, gone, appeared, gone...

To be honest, I'm not really sure. Those steps are working fine for me every time I try.

I've rebuilt that file and reattached it in case something went wrong with the 'release' build last time. Your symptoms looks like you dont have that last patch I posted.

I believe, my folders are female... (what's the english word for "zicke"?) ^^;

But the most important thumbs (the movies) seems to work now perfectly (again deleted thumbs, stopped recservice, applied patch, restartet etc.). Only the stupid folders are on their own 'trip'.

That would be 'bitch' or perhaps more politely 'silly thing'...
