Okay, now I've started to get serious grief from the boss! The MVP keeps rebooting mostly a few mins into the recording, but it does it at least once. Goes to connecting to server. On the second attempt of playing the file, it might work all the way through, and might not.

This time though the MVP is playing and then bang reboot. Okay its not crashing on skips, or ff, or pause. Just playing and it reboots. Now watching same file, and I would expect it to go through to completion.

I need some ideas of what to change, fix, make different.

The machine at the time of reboot is not doing anything - no recording, no other playing. Both devices are connected to same hub. Machine is a Semperon 3100+, XP Pro. I know I've been asking different questions and problems, but now I'm getting into trouble for the "new gadget"

Do you get any error listed in your gbpvr.exe.log at the time the error occurs?

I've been attempting to copy logs every time it happens, they seem to have the same endings. It would seem that either the MVP has rebooted, or has not responded as expected by the GBPVR, or the GBPVR PC has not heard the request. These tend to be from GBPVR.EXE-2.LOG, don't know where -1 is, and the .exe is the working version (which starts 1 sec after the -2 ends)

The MVP goes to reconnect screen, about 5 secs to restart the GBPVR screen,

These show no error occuring in GB-PVR. It's just like you MVP is disconnecting for some unknown reason. Sorry I couldn't give you more to go on.

What hardware rev is it? One of the D series had a hardware problem where they would reboot after being on a little while. Some people only started seeing this problem after having the unit awhile.

There was either a faulty component, or a component installed incorrectly. It's a known problem.

Well thats at least one down. Hardware, and MVP software left. Though not sure what can be done there, apart from keep downloading new dongles.

Yeah, I think you are referring to the D3 unit. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately) I have the D3A and E1

Sorry for doing thread necromancy here... Having the same problem, with a E1 version of the MVP

When I start playing a DivX with the default "Video library", after a random (short) time, the video gets interrupted and I return to the video selection screen

Here's what the log says:
Code:
02/07/2005 15:24:10.859    ERROR    [2]    MVP Timer Refresh error: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine

When using the MyVideo extension, it's a bit more hardcore, and the MVP reboots!
Code:
02/07/2005 15:15:40.453    VERBOSE    [2943]    MVP data read: 1   (8)

02/07/2005 15:15:40.906    INFO    [2]    NetRadio buffer size is: 96000

Anyone knows how I can find the firmware the MVP is using? Anyone sees something he understands/recognizes in the log above ?

The bottom error here is probably because you are trying to play AVI file, which is marginal at best with the MVP. Stick with MPEG2 if you can.

Yes indeed this happens only with DivX files
However, it's rock stable if I use the default MediaMVP interface instead of GBPVR... I'm wondering what GBPVR is doing different when transcoding the DivX before sending it to the MVP...

EDIT: any simple way to convert my DivX to an MPG2 stream before I serve it to the MVP? Kinda what avisynth does for AVIs?
I can't re-encode them all, I have over 80Gb of DivX, that would take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much disk space if I had to convert them all to MPG2.

Lots...

It works for some people, doesnt work for some others. I've not really looked into it. divx on the MVP isnt a high priority for me.
