NPVR 2.03 & HVR 1800 Analog Filter issue

I believe there is an error in the NPVR AnalogDevices.xml filter tag for the Hauppauge HVR 1800:

It appears [MPEG] is omitted by the NPVR installation. Perhaps someone else could verify and include this change for next release...

Was it failing before you made this change?

For most devices it never looks at this <FilterEncoder> setting. It only needs this if it is unable to automatically find the correct filter.

That said, I think somewhere along the way that encoder filter name has changed in the drivers, because I'm sure it used to be 'Hauppauge WinTV 885 Encoder'...so there is probably people around with both names.

Yes! But, so was everything else.<g> Finally resolved problems with channel scanning/ setup, and UnHandled Exceptions by manually configuring RU2 psisxx..xxx components. While attempting to fix these issues I discovered the difference and made the change here. Still in the NPVR learning curve, but slowly gaining some understanding of how things work.

I would agree, Hauppauge has indeed redefined the encoder descriptor. However, I am simply acting as the messenger here (Caveat Emptor) so let me know if you require specific testing scenarios.

Perhaps no action on your part is needed at all, unless you see a sudden increase in reports of analog install issues with the 1800/1850 cards. Alternatively, assuming one could pin down the specific version change, it should be relatively easy to query the registry for specific driver [Version <> (#)] during install and respond accordingly.

My own setup is probably a little unconventional since I am not running an MCE version of Windoze (XP/SP3 Pro) ...Hauppauge techs told me years ago that xp would not support multiple cards, but I found workarounds anyway and cobbed together a dual card box (Hauppauge 1600 & 1800) so, in that sense, it probably makes for a challenging testbed.<g>
