In some cases it might be possible go back and reassing all the other recordings, and reallocate them to different tuners to make sure this new recording would be possible, but this is something GBPVR/NPVR doesnt do.

That's one of my points (sorry if that did not stand out in my earlier post), this is exactly what npvr should do. The scheduling algorithm should have enough information to reallocate tuners. I know it is not straight forward, one might even have to ignore tuner priority, but if that's the price you'll have to pay for not losing recordings I think it is worth it.

Improving the algorithm is on my list, and there have been small improvements to it already, but its complicated (particularly when optional padding and live tv are thrown into the mix).

Its basically come down to the order you'd scheduled recordings, and the details of your earlier scheduled recordings had lead to a situation where no tuner would have been available for the new recording you were trying to schedule.

Thanks for the help.. I wasn't able to reproduce this last night, so hopefully it was a very unusual scenario. I had never seen that message before and I make use of multirecord quite a bit. I'll post back with the db if it happens again.
