Sub, the issue is not the filename, it's the folder name. Folder names cannot end with a double period. If you attempt to create one, the double periods are trimmed from the end:

Quote:E:\Freeview\Ever Wondered

Double periods are allowed anywhere else in the folder name ("E:\Some..Folder" or "E:\..SomeFolder"), just not at the end.

Thinking about it more, no periods are allowed at the end of folder names, whether they are single, double, triple, etc.

You have hit the nail on the head.

I have been comparing old entries in the database of programs recorded originally in pvrx2 and imported. On these entries the database entry still has the 3 periods (dots) but the file name and folder name have none - so all is fine.

In NPVR - for future programs, if the TVXML File has an entry with 3 periods - the database now has an entry with only 2 periods, which I presume will cause a recording to try to use a path with 2 periods at the end of the folder name - which are then removed by the operating system - causing an invalid path - so no recording.
I have checked - any number of trailing periods (1-2-3) are silently removed even on manual renaming of a folder.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh
