I've got my hands on a PCH A-110 to play with and I was looking at the "Dummies Guide..." thread. This confused me slightly...

Quote:To prepare you need to obtain and run this 480k install program [cut]. If you are still using GB-PVR the link is [cut]
To be precise, the bit that confused me is I'm using npvr but I'm also "still using GB-PVR". So where does that leave me? Which link do I go for?

Both npvr and gbpvr run on the same server and I currently swap between a pvrx2.exe MVP server and a NextPVr.exe MVP server when I need to so I don't have a problem with that. I was just wondering which would be best to install for a PCH A-110 in this situation.

My recommendation is to run NMTInstall2 first to install mvpmcx2 selecting the first and last options (I assume NPVR is current) and then run NMTInstall but only tick "Configure GB-PVR NMT Settings"

At that point it might be worth running the NMT Syntax check it should tell you the state of things.

After that, since NMTInstalls will have set the MVP server on the boxes you will have to reduce it to zero somewhere.

Good luck, and don't spend too long if it doesn't work before sending a copy of the Syntax check for me to look at.

Hi Martin,

Thanks. That gives me a head start. I'm mostly interested in trying it with the current NPVR to start with. If I can get it working with GB-PVR too (until I finally phase it out) then that will be a bonus.

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Martin,

In the PCH setup menus I can browse the network and see my PC but when I check for the share, I get the 'No server content' error message.

The share was created correctly during the NMTInstall2 process, it has 'world' read permissions set and I'm not running a software firewall on my machine. Not sure how to proceed. The syntax checker shows the following...

Code:
Checking for mvpmc share on MEDIASERVER
mvpmc        C:\mvpmc

Checking GB-PVR.html links
C:\mvpmc                        \GB-PVR.html not found

NMT IP Address: 192.168.1.1  MAC 001E2A3D9FA7

GB-PVR Installed C:\Program Files\Devnz\GBPVR\

WebServerEnabled false
WebServerNMTStreamingEnabled false
WebServerPort 5202

N-PVR Installed C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/MEDIASERVER:mvpmc/npvr.cgi">N-PVR</a>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/NETWORK_SHARE/NETWORK_BROWSER/browser.cgi">N-PVR via Network Browser</a>
<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/USB_DRIVE_A-1/mvpmc/usb_a.cgi">N-PVR via USB</a>

Enabled true
Port 8866

The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

Checking NMT Version

Checking NMT Display

Calling NMT Source
One thing which seems odd is that it isn't showing the 'NMT' settings which it did the other day when I originally tried it.

Aaargh, sorry. I just realised I pasted the server's IP address into the syntax checker instead of the PCH's. It shows the NMT version and display now.

Code:

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/USB_DRIVE_A-1/mvpmc/usb_a.cgi">N-PVR via USB</a>

I looks like you might be going through a bridge so you have to make sure however you are creating the link appropriately. If you are not using a bridge, did you enter the IP of the PCH?

Sorry, I posted an update (above your reply). I'd pasted the wrong IP address.

Ok, at least I was on the right track. NMTInstall does not install Simple File Sharing did you turn that on? If you don't want to use Simple File Sharing you need to use a user name and password.

However I don't see any shares installed on the PCH anyway so go into Setup->Network Share on the PCH and you should add the mvpmc share (Don't give it a share name) browse select and add is all you need to do. Again with Simple File Sharing you would need the user name and password on that screen (hooking up a USB keyboard to PCH simplifies filling them in)

I don't know what Simple File Sharing is - I just selected the options for NMTInstall2 that you suggested in Post #2 of this thread.

This is where I'm getting the 'No content...' error. can browse the network and see my mediaserver but when I use browse at that point, it seems it can't find any shares, i.e., the mvpmc share.

The dummies guide has a link on how to set it on XP.
