Somehow an invalid character has crept into the fields used for a manual recording.

I can't get to the recurring recordings list to remove them - I see this as a popup:
[Image: OXQOw.jpg]

If I look in the recurring-backup.xml file I see a cntrl-M cntrl-V before the Advanced Rules:

</matchrules>
</recurring>
<recurring>
<oid>71</oid>
<name> Fork</name>
<matchrules>
<Rules>
<ChannelOID>0</ChannelOID>
<ChannelName>All Channels</ChannelName>
<StartTime>2011-05-29T23:20:00.0000000Z</StartTime>
<EndTime>2011-05-30T00:20:00.0000000Z</EndTime>
<PrePadding>5</PrePadding>
<PostPadding>8</PostPadding>
<Quality>0</Quality>
<Keep>0</Keep>
<AdvancedRules>
title like &apos;A Fork%&apos;</AdvancedRules>
</Rules>

How best to fix?

I've solved this myself by:
* stopping NPVR
* restoring the NPVR folder from last night's backup
* starting NPVR
* updating the EPG

Would be nice to know if there was a simpler way of fixing this or perhaps some string filtering on the Advanced Rules as they are added - I think the weirdo characters arrived with a copy & paste - I didn't want to stuff up the Advanced Rule. Wink

If it happens again, zip and attach your npvr.db3 and I'll make sure the app at least lets you delete the recording.

Thanks for that - will do. This is where I also confess to having a very hard time finding the manual recording thingy. I kept seeing mention of it in the forums & it's there in the wiki, but nothing I did in the interface would find it. It wasn't until I bumped my mouse in NPVR that the top menu appeared with 'Back, Sort, Man-Rec'. Perhaps this menu could be made a little clearer?

Or a piccy included in the wiki like so:

Or cluestick me as to where the info is about how you access the Man-Rec goo & I'll feel even blonder. Wink

Press the "Up" button on your remote when in a horizontal menu. If you are in a list, press "Up" while the first item in the list is selected.

'up' key on the keyboard, or 'home' key on keyboard, or use mouse.

Ok - but how would I even know the menu is there? There are no visual clues at all to its existence with the default theme. Why not make it visible from the main recording menu?

I dont have it visible all the time because I prefer the more sparse look, rather than cluttering up the screen with these features that very few people use.

Where are you talking about? This is the only menu in the Recording screen.

It doesn't appear on the screen until the mouse is moved over the top of the screen & the menu appears.

Have a look at screen cap in the documentation:
http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...dings#toc4

There are no clues that in order to access the Man-Rec menu (the most useful feature of NPVR from here) that you need to move the mouse to the top of the screen to make that menu appear.

I'm v. glad I've finally found the feature, but a clarification in the docs or a clue that the menu is there on the screen is my recommendation to make it easier for others.
