Going round in circles with the "psisdecd.dll bug"

Just spent 20 minutes searching the forums trying to find an answer to this...

Can somebody give me a definitive answer as to which version of the psisdecd.dll is considered "good" when running XP SP3.

My current version is 6.5.2600.5512.

Here's the details on the one I used to use with GBPVR/XP (machine is Windows 7 now). I didn't need it for DVB-T, but as soon as I added DVB-S tuners, all hell broke loose. I also needed different versions of mpeg2data.ax and psisrndr.ax - I even ran a batch file at startup to make sure whatever was in system32 was uninstalled and these ones registered instead, because one of the original threads about the problem talked about them getting updated from time to time due to Windows updates, although I doubt that would happen now.

Thanks Iain - I found plenty of references to dvbfix.zip but couldn't find a link in any of the posts. Web searches for it threw up several sites which looked a little iffy so I stepped back.

I'll give your attached file it a try.

I'll also add that I couldn't do tuner scans with these alternative files. I had to revert back to the originals otherwise GBPVR's config app would just crash. But I needed the alternatives to stop GBPVR itself crashing when actually watching anything on the tuners. Windows 7 has given me a whole new set of problems to deal with these days, but at least this psisdecd.dll nonsense is behind me.

BTW, this "DVBfix" broke (npvr crash) Channel scan on my XP machine, so watch out...

Reddwarf has been reporting scan issues with multidec enabled that are unrelated to this dll.

Yep. The workaround is to set number of instances=0 (in device setup), exit NextPVR, restart and then scan. After scanning it works fine with multiple instances.

Is this going away soon? Or is it still relevant? I asked because I keep seeing it. I probably asked in the wrong way? You doubt it would happen now, unless some people were still using XP? Or doing a clean XP install?

I think I just meant that due to XP's age, I doubt any more updates for it will be released that would affect these files, ie, once you've found ones that work, the chances of Windows Update overwriting them again must be pretty slim now.
