It'll still wake from hibernate (if everything is behaving properly), but the general consensus seems to be that using sleep tends to cause less issues.

I use hibernate in preference to sleep as my nova-t-500's wake up more reliably.

Hibernate is quite the correct mode. Any scheduled task wakes the pc, from windows task scheduler or NPVR. It just won't return to hibernation or standby or sleep after a recording. Which did work with GBPVR.

Which works best, hibernate or suspend, differs from computer to computer, as it depends on how the BIOS handles it.
It's my experience that it's a trial-and-error thing to test which works best on a specific machine.
On my current computer, generally, suspend works fine but hibernate does not.
When it comes to NPVR, suspend stops working for me after the first recording. After that the computer refuse to sleep until after a reboot.
Haven't really tried to solve it, since I use multidec, and a USB card reader + acamd and newcs.
Don't think that combo will behave well/reliably if the computer is suspended/awakened.
I actually do a dummy recording after a reboot to _ensure_ that sleep wont happen...

soccerdad Wrote:I also have a standby issue with npvr. I am on Vista. When I first reboot the PC it sleeps fine. Once it records a show, it will never sleep again. I just tried to install DX9 because I was not positive I had it. The installer told me I had a newer version and would not let me install it. I checked with DXChecker and I am running DX11 Any idea how to install DX9? (and is this likely my standby issue?)

My client tells me it's up to date too when I run dxwebsetup, but npvr is telling me its software rendering and idling at 30% when npvr is running, so also not sleeping. is the directx update hardware dependant?

I found that although Dxdiag told me that DirectX 9c was installed NPVR told me it wasnt so now I always install using the 9c redistributable web installer. However I have never been able to get NPVR to recognise that it was installed on my portable even after several installs.

I'm having the same problem on a W7 32bit client.

Same thing here with the Direct X web installer. I had to download and install the entire 35 MB or so package (rather than the web version) to solve the issue. W7 32 bit also.
HTPC: Optiplex 7010, HDHR Prime/Avermedia Duet A188, NPVR 4.2.5, Win10 Pro

Do you have the link to that specific installer?

I googled for directx redistributable and got this http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/de...laylang=en
It did install something, but NPVR is still software rendering. Is this hardware or OS dependant? I'm using onboard graphics, which has always been fine playing TV and video, but the high cpu load displaying a static menu screen is starting to bug me. It's not only keeping the PC awake, but spinning the cooling fan faster which is ruining the silent HTPC concept a bit!
Any more ideas?
