Dear all,

keep forgetting this one but playing with Jaggy's most excellent BRVE theme last night reminded me Big Grin

Could we have a return of running a different theme for an MVP/NMT as we had with GB-PVR. And then because I always want more...... how brilliant would it be if each thin client could have an independant one? i.e. target a specific client by MAC address? and say use that theme?

just a wish..... Big Grin

cheers

Assuming none of you use NextBlue, out of curiosity why do you really want Default on the PC and BRVE on the PCH or vice versa other than for testing?

Hiya Martin, well.....

themes I guess are always a matter of personal taste anyway. That is what they do? Big Grin

I don't even have a default PC (as you know other than the main server to configure all the thin clients around the house) and maybe one or 2 other PC's that I run NextPVR up on to test some bits, anyway that is a digression....

My PCH client in the Living Room runs to a decent sized 16:9 TV. For that I tweak to have a certain look.

My current MVP in the Kitchen (hoping to make that a PCH soon!) just runs to 2 x 9 inch monitors which dictate a slightly different approach.

The Bathroom MVP has a 12 inch screen which begs another entirely different look and feel.

My chillout zone/den 22inch screen (for which Jaggy's BRVE theme just begs my more relaxed experience) requires another set up. And with baby on the way, baby will turn into small child, who will no doubt like another theme (or tweakable one for their experience....)

In the future with more skins and themes it will make but I was speaking today. I understand better what you want, but I would suspect the average user is not tweaking the look and feel of the skin for their monitors and rooms. That would be courting disaster on versions upgrades.

I cannot see how that would be courting disaster? Providing that all skins used an official installer package? Or the like? I only ever found a skin problem with GB-PVR when PVRX2 and the skin2 folder came about? By default NextPVR handles skin issues very gracefully?

I thought you meant you were copying and customizing the skins, so I am back to my original question.

Ah, as usual I have not made myself clear Big Grin

And so I am back to my original wish Wink

Of course there is always an advanced option to customize a skin if one has the time/energy to do so. But I am not talking about customizing per se!

For instance:

PCH in Living Room: I choose NextBlue, because it suits the mood and set up for my general use 16:9 TV

PCH steeb/den room: BRVE because it is gentle and easy to use for a tired mind with bulging tired eyes and JUST for me Big Grin

PCH Kitchen: Hairy's default skin which works well with 9 inch monitors.

PCH Bathroom: Perhaps the default skin, or a tweaked version, or perhaps a theme that has not yet been created, call it the Bathroom skin!

PCH Kid's Room: A skin that I wrote just for my Kid's!

any better?

And I should add before I forget that this is of course the exact same behaviour you would get from a PC client in any room. Choose the theme...

cheers
