NPVR + Pinnacle PCTV 80e = no clearQAM

I'm trying to upgrade to NPVR using a Pinnacle PCTV 80e but I can't get clearQAM to work. OS is win7. ATSC works fine, QAM doesn't. In all fairness, I don't know whether QAM works properly on this tuner (don't have any other way to test it). I do have clear channels (TV tunes in).

I see 2 tuners:
PCTV 80e/290e/460e BDA 2875 TVTuner C (QAM)
PCTV 80e/290e/460e BDA 2875 TVTuner (ATSC)

I tried the "ATSCMode => 2" registry trick from other posts but didn't work. I also deleted the temp file from the dotnet library and restarted. What I see in the logs is:

Unfortunately I dont really know much about this device, and dont have any solid advice for you on this one. I do know the QAM has been a bit hit or miss in the past. As far as I'm aware though, these are driver issues with these devices rather than anything NPVR is doing wrong.

Does QAM workin in the software that came with the device?

unfortunately I never used the original software, I've only installed the drivers off their website. I'll follow your advice and troubleshoot the software. I have a feeling that will fix it.

I also have a Pinnacle PCTV 80e tuner and clear QAM works great in Windows Media Center 7 x64, but nPVR 2.1.5 finds no QAM channels, encrypted or clear. I would very much like to use this tuner in nPVR as Media Center is a pain to configure, especially with two tuners (purchased for $17.97 apiece on clearance at Radio Shack!). wow, that is a great price. My local Radio Shack has some in stock, I may have to get one (I only need ATSC). NewEgg sells them for $80! Thanks for putting that little tidbit of info in your post.

You are welcome. I have not tried ATSC since I don't have a good antenna yet.

atsc works just fine with my antenna, but qam doesn't, no matter what i do.

MediaPortal found a few channels on one of the two PCTV cards I had at the time. MediaPortal looks fairly complex to configure, and these cards work out of the box with Windows Media Center, so I'm stuck with Media Center for now. I am having some trouble getting three of these to work with Media Center, though.
