sub Wrote:No it isnt. The app does lots of special things with the MPEG2 Demultiplexer to allow for features like live tv and play back of in progress recordings etc, as well using NPVR TS Reader filter (which wouldnt used when using LAV splitter) for handling subtitles and audio stream switching etc. You lose the ability to do this stuff with other splitters.

That's actually why I was asking. I'd like to try how well LAV does subtitles, stream switching and staying in sync.

Tried this patch last night with SAF 6 (290711) still no sound.
Am I right in assuming we need an update to LAV before this will work?
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

There should be not problem with seeking. All recording i tryed working just fine. Only DVB subtitles will be missing - there is no filter that will display them, no support for DVB subtiles in FFDshow.
If you will use SAF6, you will be able to change audio (subtitles) streams by keyboard/remote controler (if your remote support keymaping).

BTW, it will be good if:
.TS file is played from Recodring, NPVR will use TS reader.
.TS is played from Video, NPVR should use default OS splitter.

I think this make sence. There is some movies in TS format that wont work in NPVR until they are renamed (for example VC-1 TS files).

MediaPortal have exactly same problem...

You need latest LAV audio decoder SVN build (not released yet) too.

No go with Freeview HD UK if audio format changes during broadcast [goes silent]. Back to Divx for now!

LAV is, I believe FFMPEG based, and all the decoders based on this have problems with streams switching from 5.1 to stereo and back (missing channels and fluctuating volume level) DivX and Mainconcept are the only codecs that can handle this - or so I understand.

Nev claims to have fixed this UK LATM issue yesterday [after 0.36 available] so presumably will be in next release

Found a newer LAV build:
http://files.1f0.de/lavf/LAVFilters-0.36-pcm.zip
This includes the UK LATM fix.
