Im a long time GBPVR user. A recent TV upgrade kicked off a system-wide upgrade of everything including an upgrade to NPVR. After endless tinkering over several nights I finally have everything working just how I want. Thanks to Sub and many other plugin authors.

However, my only problem is that the EPG will only ever show the current days programming. And it can be patchy. If I start to look forward through the day all the program lineups eventually just say "no show details". At best I get a few hours ahead and some channels only show very limited programing. Skipping to the next day just shows a whole screen of "no show details" on all channels. Updating the EPG manually seems to be successful but its hard to tell really. I am unsure if the EPG just wont update more than a day or so ahead or if NPVR will only show a day or so ahead from its DB.

One thing I will point out is that my signal gets most channels very strong with no interruptions (ch1, ch2, ch3, four, etc in NZ) but some channels are quite weak and don't always get a reasonable picture (Prime, Maori and other higher channels - NZ). Would this effect EPG updates in this way?

Other than that, not sure where to start.

machine is good spec, dual core, 2 GB ram.
Windows 7
nPVR 2.1.5
2x Hauppauge HVR-3000's (running terrestrial)

Thanks for any suggestions.

You don't say, bnut I assume you'r using dvb-epg? Isn't there an xmltv source for NZ you can use?

NextPVR uses the standard DVB EPG. The satellite version of Freeview in New Zealand transmits a week or so of listings. Unfortunately the terrestrial version of Freeview HD only transmits the now/next info, and a few extra hours on some channels.

You'd need to use xmltv to get listings. While the terrestrial service doesnt carry a week of DVB EPG listings, it does contains a proprietary data stream that includes this info, and there is a utility call EPGCollector which can extract this to an xmltv file for feeding to NextPVR. http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?for...icid=61903

Alternatively, if you have the DVB-S also working, then this can be used as EPG source for the DVB-T channels.

I just added EPGCollector to the short list of XMLTV grabbers in the tech support sticky.

Dang. I used DVB-S on this system for several years with full 7 days guide. I never considered for a second that DVB-T wouldn't be the same. I have a Satellite feed sitting there ready to use, so I guess I will just connect that up for the EPG. What a strange system. I appreciate your input. Cheers.

Can this strategy even work?

I have setup my DVB-S to allow me to download the 7 day EPG. I added all the channels, I now have a full EPG with very little effort. BUT, all the channels are duplicates of the existing channels in the EPG. All the same info, but listed as side by side duplicates in the EPG. It appears that the system cant make the connection between a satellite EPG and a terrestrial epg and treat them as one.

Also, I want to be sure that my DVB-S never gets users for recording so I get only HD recordings. Really I only want the epg from it and nothing else. Do I get this level of granular control over process? afai can see about all I get is the tuner order. if I put this tuner last will the system *always* use this tuner last or will I get random use of the tuners when recording or watching.

Does Sub or anyone else have a strategy to get only the EPG off this tuner AND to have the EPG it generates apply to both DVB-T and DVB-S recordings? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here.

Thanks.

If you know what frequency on the dvb-s that carries the epg, you could delete all other channels on that device. Also you can place it last in the priority list, but that's no guarantee that it will never be user. However, with only one channel tuned in the risk will be minimal.

Edit: And you can try the Automerge.. button in Settings->Channels->Bulk Map. If the channel names are not exactly like it probably won't work, but you can still map the channels manually in Settings->Channels. Select the channels (by holding ctrl and click) you want to see as one, then right-click and select Map.

There is an undocumented scheme to get the listings without having DVD-S channels enabled.

ie, on your new install you'd setup your DVB-T channels. You'd then view the settings of your DVB-S device, do a scan, but dont enable any channels. You then go to the Settings->Channel screen, click Bluk Map, and you should be able select the EPG source as 'Lastscan' then choose a DVB-S channel from the dropdown. You'd need to do this for each channel wanting to use the DVB-S listings.

Thanks for the suggestions. The "merge" button looked very inviting but I decided to go with Sub's undocumented approach. So far has worked really well. I'll keep my eye on it to make sure that everything sticks and works over the longer term. If I dont post anymore on the topic, you can assume it worked. Thanks for the help. its nice to get quick help from the developers with a product like this. keep up the good work.

Does this bring in the full week? I'm collecting my EPG from DVBS and and have mapped the program guide in each channel (I have DVBS and DVBT) to the dvbs epg feed but i cant sem to get more than one day at a time loaded,,,,,

Any hints? Also i'm having a problem getting the epg to update nightly, i seem to have to run it manually.
